Recent Outer Banks vacation rental reviews

We have visited the OBX since I was a little girl. My mom has Multiple Sclerosis and is now bond to a wheelchair. We search for a house that will accommodate not only the size of our group but also mom. We chose 2 for 1 because of the amazing views, elevator and handicap friendly labels. An elevator and handicap friendly are “have to haves†and the view is an added bonus. It would make it so much easier for her to enjoy her stay having all three of these amenities. The only minor issue we had was getting her into the house. The back door is the only way she was able to enter and there was a three inch lip that she and her motorized wheelchair had to be raised over each time. Once raised, the platform was small and did not allow for the turn very easily. Everything else was fantastic! The shower chair being provided was a major plus! Thank you! We have booked 2 for 1 next year, but plan to make a small ramp and platform extension we can use to help get her into the house easier. If there are adjustments made to the back entrance, we would love to know!! Thank you for taking to time to read our comment. ~ The Laton/Deese Family This review was submitted while the home was managed by a different property management company.

House has long since past its prime maintenance-wise, but the location is amazing, and views from top floor are unbeatable. Had issues with bathtubs in both Master bathrooms and toilet rocking in one, gas grill, broken Adirondack chairs, broken lounger, hot tub lost heat, tv was missing from one of the bedrooms, no beach towels, very few bath towels for such a large house, dishwashers were both semi-broken - one with trim that was falling off, not enough outdoor tables and chairs on decks, no garbage bags for kitchen trash, kitchen was not well organized, one coffee maker was broken. That said, house was clean, pool heat was nice to have, maintenance team was quick to do repairs we called in, can walk/bike EVERYWHERE, elevator worked perfectly, kitchen was well-eqipped.

Great house. Had a great vacation. The kitchen could use a few more amenities - a blender, measuring cup, but overall really nice.

Beaches, attractions, and activities in the Outer Banks

Guests of the Outer Banks have unlimited access to miles and miles of clean, uncrowded, family-friendly beaches. While beach access within the villages is limited to pedestrians, ORV access is available in many areas within the National Park (permit required.) Walk or drive out to the beach, set up your umbrella and cooler and spend the day lounging and splashing with your family and friends. Your pup is welcome to join you at the beach as long as he remains on a leash. While most beaches in the Outer Banks are unguarded, there are designated life-garded beaches where you can safely enjoy swimming in the waters of the Atlantic.

The Outer Banks is home to some famous landmarks and pieces of national history. The Cape Hatteras Lighthouse is the tallest brick lighthouse in the United States and the tallest of any kind in North Carolina. The most famous of the Outer Banks’ five lighthouses, the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse is an exciting climb and a popular location for family photographs. History enthusiasts must visit the Wright Brothers Memorial in Kitty Hawk. This stunning memorial marks the location of Wilbur and Orville Wright’s first flights on December 17, 1903. Numerous marinas throughout the Outer Banks attract mariners and sight-seers all year long. Many of the area’s most popular attractions are baked right into the history and lifestyle of the Outer Banks.

While most people are content to relax on the stunning shores of the Outer Banks’ pristine beaches, some folks are seeking a little more action. Fortunately, the Outer Banks offers up some of the best surfing, kiteboarding and windsurfing on the east coast of the US. The close proximity of the Gulf Stream provides outstanding fishing; fisherman flock to the Outer Banks for offshore and inshore charter fishing, and plenty more enjoy surf fishing or casting from one of many local piers. Visitors are able to rent bikes, golf carts, kayaks, surfboards, chairs, umbrellas and virtually any other beach equipment you may need for an action-packed vacation getaway.
