Located at the southern tip of Hatteras Island in North Carolina, Hatteras is a picturesque coastal fishing village. Sitting on a narrow strip of land 30 miles out in the middle of the ocean, Hatteras is nestled between the Pamlico Sound to the west and Hatteras Inlet to the south, providing outstanding boat access to the Atlantic Ocean to the east. Hatteras rests within the Outer Banks, a famous string of barrier islands renowned for its natural landscape.
On your trip away, you’ll have the opportunity to tour lighthouses, kayak through state parks, and lounge along beautiful beaches. Daytrip through towns along the islands and explore something new. Hatteras beachfront rentals are your escape to the North Carolina coast.
At the southern end of town, the free ferry arrives to take residents and visitors back and forth from nearby Ocracoke Island. Feel the rush of adrenaline and rent four-wheelers to drive around the beach. The Cape Hatteras Lighthouse is located 17 miles to the north of Hatteras village, which makes for a stunning walk and beach picnic spot for lunch.
