This was our 5th time staying at the Mana Kai but our first time booking through Vacasa. We are a family of 5 so we book the whole unit (both A and B.) We had no idea we’d be responsible for amenities beyond what they provide so we ended up having to buy more toilet paper (we were provided 5 rolls of single ply for a family of 5 for 6 days) and using grocery bags for trash (only provided 3 bags.) When we realized we were only given 4 beach towels we asked the front desk and they told us they couldn’t help us because we booked through Vacasa. They proceeded to call Vacasa on our behalf to ask them to come and deliver another towel (as we were all heading out to the beach and didn’t want to wait!) We also had no idea we’d have to launder these towels ourselves (previously we’ve booked through the Mana Kai directly and you get to “exchange” your towels at the front desk as needed.) The unit was relatively clean with the exception of mold in the main shower and moldy curtains in unit B (the extra bedroom.) The TV mount in unit B was missing a TV which just seemed strange. Not a big deal because we don’t tend to watch TV on vacation. But it looks strange when you walk in the room and there’s a mount sticking out of the wall with no TV. Had a hard time getting the screen doors to close as they weren’t sliding on their tracks well. The pull out bed had no sheets to put on it so my son just used a heavy blanket we found in the closet but he mentioned the mattress was comfier than most. We loved the closet of beach gear (boogie board, beach chairs, etc.) but wish it would’ve been advertised as we ended up renting these items from our car rental because they’ve never been provided in any of the other units we’ve stayed in. Being on the 7th floor was nice and the view from the Lanai is amazing. Unfortunately my husband and I booked an anniversary trip in August and booked the same unit before we’d actually spent time in it. We’ll make the most of it (and bring our own toilet paper! 😂)
