Just a few steps away from the beach. Everything is super clean and organized. I would definitely stay here again.

We picked this unit because of the beautiful view towards the ocean. The view did not disappoint. The home was very spacious for this type of set up and comfortable. The twin beds was another big selling point, as our teenage children were not looking forward to sharing a bed otherwise. The upstairs master loft was lovely with a king sized bed, separate full bath and a private lanai. However, one of the best parts of this stay was all the extras the owners included in their home--beach gear, kitchen supplies, games, and comfortable furniture. These little things made our trip so much easier. It is an easy walk to the nearest beach and a quick drive to many others that you might to explore. The grounds are well maintained and beautiful. We soaked up pool time next to their waterfall and played tennis on clean courts. Next time we are in Maui, we will look for this unit again. It met our needs well.

What is Kihei, Maui, known for?

Kihei is known for boasting warmer winter weather than other parts of Maui. In turn, its desirable climate and pleasant temperatures draw in travelers looking to take advantage of the area's six miles of calm beaches that offer crystal-clear views of the Kahoʻolawe, Molokini, Lānaʻi, and West Maui.

The area is also famous for its tranquil beaches that allow visitors to take advantage of a beautiful piece of Hawaiian coastline that's more relaxing. So if you're looking for a destination to relax, swim, kayak, or snorkel in the ocean, here's where to go next.

Do you need a car in Kihei?

Kihei has plenty of markets, cafes, and beaches accessible on foot, making it an accessible and fun place to stay for non-drivers. Maui public buses also service the area and grant guests access to other parts of the island.

Nevertheless, renting a car offers travelers more freedom to visit places like Kealia Pond National Wildlife Refuge, explore the island more accessible, or witness an unforgettable sunrise at Haleakala's peak.

Is North or South Kihei better?

Both sides of the island have their advantages and distinctions. For example, Sugar Beach—Maui's longest beach—is in North Kihei and offers a softer coastal experience. In contrast, South Kihei's Cove Beach delivers wilder waves, making it more adventurous for surfers.

If you had to choose one or another, think of North Kihei as the quieter, calmer destination to South Kihei's busier and more lively coastline.
