Guests at Mana Kai Maui Resort enjoy access to the oceanfront communal pool, hot tub, and fitness center, right on one of South Kihei's finest beaches. An elevator and disabled parking spot make getting around easy, and the beachfront setting puts the sand just outside. Some resort facilities are operated independently by the resort.

The neighborhood:
Keawakapu Beach gives this Mana Kai location a beach-first feel, but South Maui is still within easy reach. Walk the long shoreline in the morning, then drive toward South Kihei for casual restaurants, coffee, shops, and beach parks. Wailea is close in the other direction for dining and a change of beach. At the resort, the pool, gym, and grills make it easy to spend an afternoon without getting in the car. The private lanai and private laundry are especially useful for a stay that lasts more than a few days.

Getting around:
Kahului Airport is about 20 to 30 minutes away, an easy drive down Maui's sunny south shore. A rental car is recommended to make the most of Kihei's many beaches, shops, and restaurants spread along the coast. Some stretches near South Kihei Road are walkable to dining and shopping, while beaches are often just minutes away. Parking is typically available on site, in lots, or along nearby streets.

• The fitness and business center is temporarily closed due to damage sustained from Lowell.
