We were incredibly impressed with this home. It sits on a road at the very top of the Whaleshead Beach Resort so you look over the valley toward the wooded hills and to the ocean below. The drive up is a fun adventure - up around many turns - and you feel like you're at the eagle's nest when you arrive. You can park your car right in front of the unit. Check in was seamless - just a key in a lockbox - you are sent the code the day before your stay. The unit was absolutely spotless when we arrived - and we have pretty high standards for cleanliness! There are lots of windows and because it's an end unit, one set of living room windows looks east to some large trees and the other looks south toward the awesome views. The kitchen has sliding doors out to a partially covered deck. The is a love seat, two chairs and a small coffee table under the roofed part which is raised so it's easy to see the view while you're sitting. The uncovered part has a bar-height table with two chairs. There is also a small lower deck, but we didn't find any need use this space. The kitchen is well stocked and all of the appliances worked. The table is bar height, so you get the views from here too. The bedroom was quiet with a comfortable bed, a closet and lots of drawers for storage. The bath has two sinks and a separate area for the tub/shower and toilet. There is also a loft with an additional bed which we did not use. The living room furniture was pretty comfortable with a good large screen TV and some books. The turquoise paint throughout the home put me off a bit when I saw online, but in person it is cheerful and unifies the whole place. This home was really quiet - you can hear some road noise when you're on the deck but none when you're inside. The location worked really well for us. We mostly hiked and enjoyed the various places along the Samuel Boardman Scenic Corridor and this home sits right in the middle of that. It was about an eight-minute drive to Brookings for groceries or restaurants. Compared to staying in Brookings, it is also a bit closer to Gold Beach and Port Orford it you want to explore there. If we ever return to this area of the country, we will definitely stay here again!
