This home was perfect. Great for families, so many activities for the kids, an amazing fireplace, fully stocked kitchen, hot tub, theater, sauna! This home has it all! The host proactively reached out to ensure our driveway was shoveled when it snowed. This home was perfect!

I fell in love with this house the minute I saw it and it did not disappoint. We felt like we were back in Switzerland staying here. The home fit our large extended family with plenty of room for everyone. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed to cook a full meal. It was located in a quiet neighborhood and had lots of privacy. It was also very close to many amazing hikes. We would happily come back and spend another vacation here.

Where is Brighton, Utah?

Brighton is a beautiful 30-mile drive from downtown Salt Lake City and seven miles from Wasatch Mountain State Park, sitting atop Big Cottonwood Canyon. The entirety of Brighton Ski Resort lies within Wasatch-Cache National Forest, so the entire resort is open to the public 365 days a year. From your vacation home in Brighton, it's just a two-mile drive to Solitude Ski Resort and a nine-mile drive to Deer Valley.

Skiing in Brighton

Brighton averages over 500 inches of powdery snow per year, making it a paradise for all manner of snow sports at every level. Brighton is host to over 1,000 skiable acres on 66 runs, as well as terrain runs and halfpipes.

Just because the sun goes down doesn’t mean you have to head in for the night (though, with a cozy and warm vacation rental waiting for you, it might be tempting)! Brighton has over 200 acres of well-groomed and well-lit night skiing, open every evening but Sunday. Every inch of slope in Brighton is accessible by high-speed lifts, and skiers of all levels can ride together to the top of their slope of choice.

If you crave even more skiing after wearing yourself out on the slopes, visit Utah Olympic Park. Initially built for the 2002 Winter Olympics, it is now a training facility for winter sports athletes. If you are lucky, you might catch some white knuckle action on the ski jump or bobsled track. If you are one of the truly bold, you can sign up to try the bobsled yourself!

Summer Activities in Brighton

When the weather gets warm, bring out the poles! Silver Lake is well-stocked with healthy sized rainbow trout and also has a wheelchair accessible wooden boardwalk that wraps around the area - great for tranquil walks. Big Cottonwood Creek is perfect for fly fishing with exquisite landscapes lifted from your favorite outdoor magazines.

Big Cottonwood Canyon is also a top choice for hikers, offering shorter but high-intensity trails. Overflowing with biodiversity, the trails bloom with rare wildflower species and breathtaking mountain meadows and lakes. Be sure to pack binoculars and keep an eye out for mountain goats, moose, bears, and elk.

Utah is world-famous for spectacular rock climbing formations, and Brighton is no stranger. Technical climbs on some of the best granite you will ever touch are nearby at Brighton Wall and throughout Big Cottonwood Canyon.

Things to Do in Brighton

What brings people to Brighton is, without a doubt, the sterling skiing experience, but if you'd rather just take it easy, there are still a wealth of other fun options in the area. The world-famous Sundance Film Festival is just over ten miles away in neighboring Park City

If you visit outside of the festival season, take in a bit of the rich cinema culture of the area. The Egyptian Theater is an absolutely stunning piece of American history. Built in 1929, the elaborate architecture harkens back to the golden age of film. Afterwards, be sure to check out High West Distillery, Utah’s first distillery since Prohibition, which offers up top-shelf, small-batch whiskeys and vodkas alongside an upscale menu inspired by the old west.

Dining in Brighton

For a cozy Alpine experience directly on the mountain, visit Molly Green’s. Enjoy hand-tossed pizzas and pub fare with a classic ski lodge vibe. Silver Fork Lodge has been a local institution since 1947, serving up highly acclaimed sourdough pancakes made from a sourdough starter over 50 years old. For many folks, coffee always comes before slopes, and The Blind Miner has you covered. Their baristas are up early, crafting with meticulous care all of your favorite caffeinated beverages right on the slopes.

With small-town charm, insanely easy access from a major airport, and the unmatched comforts of home, one cannot go wrong with booking a stay in one of our Brighton vacation rentals. Tour our homes and take your pick today!
