The photos don't do this house justice! The house was much bigger/open than we thought it would be. Would definitely rent this house again!

Where is Burnet, Texas?

Located about 55 miles outside of Austin, our Burnet lodging is the perfect home away from home for travelers looking to experience the weird of Austin with a hint of classic Texas! Water-lovers rejoice: Lake Buchanan is just 13 miles away, Lake LBJ and Kingsland are about 17 miles away, and Lake Travis and Lago Vista are approximately 40 miles away.

Cultural experiences in Burnet

For being a small town of less than 6,000 people, Burnet has a rich cultural heritage. Regardless of how you choose to spend your days, you'll find that the area's historical influence and vibrant culture are present in almost every activity.

Start in the Historic Square with a walking tour of Burnet's unique architecture. Here you'll see buildings that date back to the 1880's alongside modern shopping and dining options! Shop for delicious produce and crafts at the Burnet Farmers' Market, take the kids to a showing at Movies in the Park or a free summer concert, and enjoy a taste of historic Burnet during a Wild West reenactment.

Make sure to stop by some of Burnet's best museums like the Fort Croghan Musuem, the Highlands Lakes Air Museum, and the Hill Country Science Mill for interactive, family-friendly fun while engaging with science and history. Younger guests will enjoy a themed, family-friendly ride on the Hill Country Flyer, the area's steam engine.

The Vanishing Texas River Cruise offers a luxurious cruise paired with ecotourism. Guests can explore Lake Buchanan and the Colorado River, looking for signs of Texas wildlife. If you're lucky, you'll be able to spot some of the bald eagles that call this area home in the winter! Make sure to check out a Freedom Flight Cruise, where rehabilitated birds of prey are released after a stint with Last Chance Forever: The Bird of Prey Conservancy.

Are you knowledgeable about wines or hoping to expand your palate? A trip down the Texas Hill Country Wine Trail is a must-do, with 46 different wineries offering tasty treats on a self-guided wine tour four times a year.

Burnet's outdoor recreation

Outdoor enthusiasts are in for a treat when they book a stay in our Burnet cabin rentals, where hiking and water recreation are as abundant and varied as Burnet's history!

Inks Lake State Park, 12.5 miles away, offers fun on land and water with over seven miles of hiking through various terrain and plenty of water space for swimming, fishing, stand-up paddle boarding, kayaking, or boating. Take a hike up a small canyon to Devil's Waterhole or book the use of the picnic pavilion.

Longhorn Cavern State Park offers tours of one of the longest underground river caves in Texas. Take the casual walking tour or the wild tour that takes you into incredibly tight places! Once a church and a ballroom, these stunning caverns offer a kind of natural wonder that is rarely seen.

Want to experience the other breathtaking natural wonders of Texas Hill Country? Be sure to visit in April for the Burnet Bluebonnet Festival, a display of wildflowers that you won't see anywhere else in Texas.

With everything from outdoor adventures to historic and family-friendly activities in an urban setting, our Burnet vacation rentals create a unique, dual experience for visitors of Texas Hill Country!
