Recent Townsend vacation rental reviews

We brought our 3 big dogs with us for our 1 year wedding anniversary and they absolutely loved it! The doggy door was big enough for our 100 pound mastiff/boxer mix to fit through so they had pretty much unlimited access to the fenced in yard. The cabin was clean when we arrived and smelled good! The back bathroom does not have a light in the shower which was a little weird and the main bathroom has a claw foot tub and weak water pressure, and the blankets were pretty thin, so if you are visiting in Fall/Winter i'd highly recommend bringing some extra blankets for the master bedroom as it is the least insulated and is a couple degrees cooler than the rest of the house, which does get warm quickly and stays warm. Also, if you have large vehicles, i would not anticipate fitting 3 into the drive way. i have a GMC sierra 1500 and we may have been able to fit 1 other mid-small size vehicle if we tried. The area is also BEAUTIFUL. You can see all of the stars, and it is not as tourist dense as gatlinburg/pigeon forge. The only downside to bringing dogs out here was that we didn't do our research and didn't know the Smokies are not dog friendly and there are almost no hikes you can take your dogs on. Only reason i docked a star from the cabin is because the bathrooms were just a little weird and the water pressure was weak. Other than that we absolutely loved it!

Our family had a great time! We loved the cute and cozy “Mountain Dreams”. I enjoyed being in Townsend and really got use to eating at Steak and Trout restaurant

The view is lovely! We had a bald eagle land right in the tree off of our deck! Location is nice.

Also nearby is the charming town of Pigeon Forge, where you'll find commercial attractions such as the Dollywood amusement park and the Dixie Stampede.

Things to do in Townsend, TN

Although Townsend is small in size, it packs a lot of activities into two square miles. Must-see museums include the Great Smoky Mountain Heritage Center, which covers the cultural history of East Tennessee, and the Little River Railroad & Lumber Museum. The Tuckaleechee Caverns just southwest of town are also worth a visit.

In Great Smoky Mountains National Park, stop by Cades Cove for a self-guided tour of a wide variety of well-preserved buildings dating back to the early 1800s. Cades Cove is also an excellent place to view wildlife, such as black bears, white-tailed deer, and coyotes.

After a good night's sleep in your vacation rental, lace up your hiking boots and pick a nearby trail - regardless of length or difficulty, the views are sure to be beautiful. Looking for a slightly different perspective? Try exploring the park on horseback, or, if you're feeling truly daring, check out the views from a zip line!
