My wife and I spent a week at The Creek on Penobscot Bay. The setting and the home were perfect. There was everything we needed and more. The house was well stocked, including the kitchen. It was spacious and the beds were comfortable. There was a large covered deck overlooking the bay. The setting is spectacular. The home sits on a large private parcel. It is set back from the bay and the owner mows a wide path through the meadow down to the ocean and the tidal pools. Although we were there at the height of tick season, we didn't have any problems. The views are spectacular. We walked the beach and explored the tidal ponds. The location was perfect. It was a short drive to Castine and Bucksport. Castine has nice restaurant options, beautiful coastal scenery and the Maine Maritime Academy. Bucksport was also nice and there was a grocery store, too! We hiked some of the short trails in the area and also went to Acadia which was an easy hour's drive. We plan on renting The Creek again!

Our family has stayed at The Winkumpaugh Getaway every year, and it has become a very special place for us. Our kids have made so many wonderful memories here, and we always look forward to returning. The house is spacious, clean, comfortable, and well equipped, with plenty of room for the whole family to relax. Having a dishwasher and washing machine is a must for a family vacation, and both make longer stays so much easier. The well-stocked kitchen even includes lobster pots, perfect for preparing a home-cooked Maine lobster dinner. We especially love the peaceful wooded setting, screened deck, fire pit, and Ping-Pong table. Our kids also enjoy the nostalgia of choosing DVDs and VHS tapes for family movie nights. With no Wi-Fi, it's a wonderful opportunity to get our teens off their phones and spend genuine quality time together as a family. The house feels quiet and secluded while still being conveniently located—about 15–20 minutes from Ellsworth and approximately 45 minutes from Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. Our favorite swimming spot is Branch Lake, which is also just a quick 15-minute drive away. The home has lots of charm and truly feels like a cozy Maine getaway. We're grateful for all the memories our family has made here and hope to keep returning for many years.

Cabin

we loved our second stay at carefree point! the private beach is a great place to read, sun, or meditate. the lake water is super clear, with a sandy bottom so now plant life to deal with. lovely cabin. close enough to town, but far enough that you feel secluded. THANK YOU!!
