In the summer, there are just as many activities to choose from in Olympic Valley - cycling along the paved bike trail to Tahoe City (there's bike rental right at the Palisades Tahoe resort) or boating on Lake Tahoe. For a great half-day hike, follow the trail down to Shirley Canyon, past waterfalls and large granite boulders.
