Recent Alpine Meadows vacation rental reviews

Overall the place was good but it did leave a few things to be desired. I realize that for the price and the location, it was still a great deal but could use a couple of minor things. First, and most important, is the parking situation. There's only one parking spot in the garage which is made very clear in the property description, although it looked like there were other guest spots that were first come, first serve that were next to the condo buildings. The biggest thing is the fact that the garage is relatively small and given the fact that it's next to a ski area, you can expect that some (many?) renters will have SUVs. We had a Toyota Rav4 with a ski rack on top of it. We just barely cleared the height and, even with that, we had to take the skis off the rack before pulling in. I'm guessing that any SUV that's taller may not fit so be careful. Furthermore, the garage doesn't have an automatic door opener so it's opened manually. Not a huge deal but there aren't any good handles on the door so opening/closing the door is a little annoying. Also, because the garage door doesn't lock , we didn't feel comfortable just leaving the skis in the garage and had to bring them upstairs. Inside the condo, while it's not the Ritz, it did the job. Please note that while the kitchen has all the necessary utentils, plates/dishes, pots/pans, etc., other stuff is hit or miss. For example, there was no cooking oil, tin foil, and stuff like that. I realize this just tends to be stuff that's left over from prior tenants so I don't necessarily fault the owners but just be aware that you may have to buy this stuff at the store. Already previously mentioned by other tenants was the "unique" bathroom/tub situation that had a very low removable shower head. I wouldn't expect that the owner reconfigures where the shower head is and, in fact, this setup was perfect for my seven year old who likes to take baths and then rinse off. What I am surprised about is that there was no shower curtain. That's a very easy and cheap fix to put in a shower curtain rod and curtain. A shout-out to the development as a whole. We were there during the 2-3 day blizzard at the beginning of March 2023 and were basically stuck in the condo for a couple of days. It seemed like the parking lot was being plowed every couple of hours. There was also a guy (probably the super?) that I think lives in the development that kept coming outside to shovel the walkways. Like I said, overall a really good place at a great price and I would definitely come back.

Very nicely appointed Ski home. We did not ski in ski out, we are first time visitors to Tahoe so we didn’t feel confident in Skiing in or out of unit. A ski/trail map would be very helpful if it could be supplied. Other then that, beds were comfortable, unit was clean, tidy and spacious. Would rent again.

Where is Alpine Meadows?

This popular ski community sits among the mountains in Olympic Valley in the North Lake Tahoe region of California. Easily accessible off of Highway 89 via Interstate 80, Alpine Meadows is a year-round getaway for those escaping the hustle and bustle of the Bay Area and Sacramento.

The heart of the action is at the resort, and there are tons of rentals to choose from in nearby towns and neighborhoods of North Lake Tahoe such as in Tahoe City, Truckee, Homewood, Squaw Valley, Dollar Point, and Carnelian Bay.

Winter skiing at Alpine Meadows

Our Alpine Meadows vacation rentals sit on or very close to Alpine Meadows ski resort, a relatively budget-friendly sister to luxurious Squaw Valley.

With 13 chairlifts and over 100 trails of varied terrain throughout 2,400 acres, Alpine Meadows will keep you engaged! The resort has something for everyone - for the neophyte skiers, there are lessons and rentals and for the more advanced there double black diamond runs.

Adults can enjoy a beer and the mountain views from the expansive Sundeck at the Alpine Meadows Main Lodge before meeting the little ones at the Kid Zone where they can tire themselves out in the indoor play area. There's a variety of resort dining options like coffee shops, bars, and BBQ joints. For a mid-day warm up try the Alpine Bar's famous "shotski!"

Guests can get a two-in-one mountain experience with their resort ticket to Alpine Meadows being valid at Squaw Valley as well. Hop on the free Squaw/Alpine Express shuttle and travel easily between the two.

Summer activities at Alpine Meadows

In summertime don't miss a float on the Truckee River with a rental from Truckee River Rafting. Beginning in Tahoe City and winding its way to the fabulous River Ranch Lodge and Restaurant at the base of Alpine Meadows, it's a once in a lifetime adventure.

Hiking is a must, and you won't want to pass up the day hike up Five Lakes Trail, which takes you on four miles exposed granite and volcanic rock to a vista of pristine waters. Once you've reached the lakes, take a swim break and soak up some of the most stunning mountain scenes on the west coast. For those feeling a bit more adventurous, the trail extends further into Granite Chief Wilderness and connects with the Pacific Crest Trail.

For your in-town needs and nightlife cravings, Tahoe City is just five miles down the road. Bask lakeside, catch concerts and movies on the beach, and load up on supplies among their bevy of shops, restaurants, and bars.

However you choose to spend your precious time off, our Alpine Meadows vacation rentals will put you in the midst of all the fun!
