We loved the space, the relaxation, and the chance to spend quality family time away from the many distractions of life.
Glen A. Dec 2021
The location was great, next to a creek, with a beautiful view of the forested hills from the gigantic windows in the living room. Great "ambience" with the spacious, comfortable living area (with wood pellet stove), excellent well-equipped kitchen, two spacious, very nice bathrooms. The closeness to adjacent homes did not bother us; you don't even realize they're there when you're inside. Spectacular upstairs bedroom and TV area. Great deck with hot tub (it was very cold and snowy and we didn't try it). The whole place was sparkling clean.
WIFI was awesome; I got about 250Mbps on a speedtest.
However it was unusually cold weather and most of the electric wall heaters (which are supposed to be the primary heat source) didn't work. But the wood pellet stove (which wasn't intended to be primary heat) actually had a huge heat output and filled the gap. Plus a couple of electric space heaters were available so we were actually able to keep the place warm enough.
Some family members mentioned the mattresses weren't that comfortable in their bedrooms but mine was fine.
Communication wasn't great; I asked a heat question in the app and never actually got an answer. So I'm not impressed so far with the 24/7 support we supposedly paid for.
There was no overall manual and I couldn't find a dumpster or garbage can so I started putting bags outside the door, hoping no animals would find them.
The supply of paper towels and toilet paper wasn't quite adequate.
Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would consider staying again if the issues were corrected.
Manager response:
Thank you for staying with us, Glen. We are so glad the location worked out well for you. We apologize for any confusion regarding trash disposal at this home. This home is scheduled for a weekly trash pick-up. In the future, please know that our housekeeping team is available to assist with its removal. Loved the comfy warm home and wood pellet fire place. The beautiful backyard with a small stream was very nice. But the hot tub could not heat up after the first use. When we first got in it was at 106f and we turned it down to 103f, next day it was stuck at 95f and when we turned the heat up all the way it wouldn’t warm up. Next day it was at 91f and still wouldn’t warm up. Only complaint about the trip. Hot tub fees costed a lot for it not to work properly.
Manager response:
Ethan, thank you for the review after your stay with us. We are so glad you enjoyed Shadowbrook Chalet. We apologize for the hot tub issues. Please remember we have 24/7 customer service available to assist our guests with all issues that might arise. We will be sure to let the local staff know the hot tub is not heating properly so they can get it back to perfect temperatures. Thank you for letting us know. We hope to host you again soon! Thank you.
Robert H. May 2021
It was a nice, spacious house but it smelled like an attic. The hot tub was dirty and required a lot of cleaning before entering. The stairs to the fire pit had a lot of debris covering the steps. There was a dirty kleenex between the cushions of the couch otherwise the house was clean. The view from the living room window was amazing. There are a lot of other houses all around so the cabin is not secluded at all.
Manager response:
Hi, Robert! We appreciate you taking the time to leave your review. Housekeeping is being addressed, and we do apologize for the oversights you encountered. We do have new photos we will soon be posting to help guests get a better sense of the home's location in relation to the other cabins in the area. Thank you!
Sienna N. Dec 2020
Really beautiful cabin surrounded by the woods. We loved the hot tub and used it every night. Well stocked kitchen. Great location, about 20-30min from most skiing destinations on mt hood and only 20min from Sandy. Hope to stay again!
Marc D. Aug 2020
Fantastic view out the back windows and great location!
Dominik M. Feb 2020
It was perfect for our family! Would suggest more than 1 trash container for outside.
Ayla I. Jan 2020
This house was adorable right when we got there. The rooms were clean, kitchen was easy to use and the bathrooms were stocked. The neighborhood was quiet and we felt like we were alone even though we had neighbors. A grocery store was only 5-10 minutes away and the mountain 25 minutes. The hot tub was easy to use and had clear, easy instructions. I would definitely book it again!
Aaron M. Dec 2019
Stayed here with family and had a great time. Hot tub was a huge plus. Home was clean and had everything you need. Pellet stove was wonderful
Dillon C. Dec 2019
The property is wonderfully cozy atmosphere with a rustic feel while providing modern amenities, comfort, and relaxation. Would recommend to anyone interested in a stay.
Jasmine M. Sep 2019
My husband and I had a lovely stay here for our anniversary weekend. The cabin was very clean and had all the amenities we needed. The huge floor to ceiling windows are beautiful. The location is perfect, there is a grocery store and several restaurants just a few miles down the road. With multiple bedrooms and bathrooms it is a bit much for just one couple but would be perfect for a family or two couples to share. We will definitely be back in the winter to check out the snow! Highly recommend this place for a peaceful getaway.
Elizabeth R. Aug 2019
We had a wonderful stay here- very kid friendly and comfortable. Lots of games and puzzles! The upstairs bedroom has a closet that can be used for a pack n play if you need that as well :) We'll be back!
Rachel H. Jun 2019
The house had everything we needed Nd was very clean.
Lindsay F. Dec 2018
We loved how the home was graciously stocked with anything that you might have at your normal home (extra blankets, games, laundry detergent, shampoo, salt, spices, dishes, trash bags, etc..) Plenty of space for our families to move around and not feel cramped. Everyone felt like we had our own space. Wonderful stay.
Elizabeth O. Dec 2018
My family and i stayed for a week and it was a very relaxing and peaceful week. The house is extremely cozy and had everything we could possibly need. The hot tub was definitely my favorite part of the day. The kids and I love walking down to the creek. The only reason i dont give the house 5 stars is because i wasnt expecting to be so close to others houses right next door. There was a house under construction across from the house and I dont think the workers knew that we could see them from the living room when they would go pee. Aside from that we visited alot of nice places that was only a short drive away. I would definitely go back.
Dean M. Nov 2018
The house was well equipped. We cooked while we were there. There is plenty of pans, dishes etc. The pellet stove was nice. It’s not as remote as pictures looked on line. Overall a nice relaxing time was had.
julie S. Sep 2018
We just loved staying here. We all played card games every night, ages from 80yrs young down to 14yrs old. Just a lot of family time and fresh air.
Barbara W. Aug 2018
Fun home, kid friendly
Apart from the bathrooms being side by side
And not one on the 2nd floor
It’s pretty nice
Philip W. Aug 2018
What an amazing property! The cabin is beautiful and the views from the living room and balcony are outstanding. The creek and onsite bridge felt like they were straight out of a fairy tale! Couldn't have been more pleased with our stay. Will definitely be back!
Shannon R. Jul 2018
We had a lovely time. Enjoyed the hot tub, large windows, and the deck. Very relaxing.
Maraiya K. Jun 2018
The location was gorgeous, there's actually a ton of things to do in this town and has adorable bars! The hot tub and deck was the best part it was beautiful especially in the mornings. They had it stocked with lots of food and spices too.
John K. Apr 2018
The staff at the Vacasa Mt Hood office were very helpful. I highly recommend Vacasa. This particular house was fine but a little noisy because it is so close to a fairly busy road.
Anita V. Apr 2018
Very clean and cozy house. Everything was great!
Thomas G. Mar 2018
Great place close enough to slopes for Spring Break fresh snow. Quiet and spacious. Hot tub needed cleaning.
Martin C. Aug 2017
Tha family had a comfortable stay at this cabin. Clean, nice views and the kids enjoyed the backyard and creek. Close to Mt Hood and a lot of hiking trials in the area.
Nicole W. Aug 2017
What a perfect home to spend with family. We had such an amazing time and the local manager, Kris was very responsive and got right back to us with any questions we had about the home. Highly recommend staying here if you want to get away from the city noise and just enjoy nature and the people around you. Thanks for one of the best vacation rental experiences ever, Vacasa!
Rene S. Jul 2017
This home is so comfortable clean and spacious. Our family had a wonderful time. Very close to ranger station and lots of great hiking. Hot tub was as lovely after a day of hiking as it would be after skiing.
Kristi R. May 2017
WE had a wonderful weekend stay for Mother's Day.
The property is beautiful and well maintained.
Lots of activities in the area to enjoy.

The weather wasn't the best but we made the best out of it.
We couldn't get the stove to work, so called your office and someone was there within an hour (or less).
Love the hottub!
Nick P. May 2017
This was a great rental for the price and location. It was off a main road but still very quiet. The main room is massive with amazing big windows. My only complaint is that none of us who slept there thought our mattresses were even remotely comfortable. By the last night of our stay, we were sleeping on the couches, chairs, and floor.
Dana V. Dec 2016
Enjoyed few days of relaxing, snowboarding and snowshoeing with cabin as our base. Very spacious open Floorplan with creek running in back area. Definitely not private - backyard view is of many other cabins. But we enjoyed.
Kelly R. Oct 2016
The property was fantastic and check in/out was beyond easy. The deck and hot tub were wonderful and the rooms were perfect. The only problem we had was that we didn't spend much time there and ended up in the car way too much of the weekend going back and forth to Portland. It's about an hour to the city, so if you're planning to spend a lot of time there, it isn't very convenient.

The property itself was fantastic, though! If anyone wanted to spend the time in Rhododendron, I'd definitely recommend it.
Shawna K. Sep 2016
The view from the living room is extremely beautiful and realxing the pellet stove added a nice cozy feel. The hot tub was hot and clean, and there was plenty of fire wood for the pit. The beds are rather hard though, and my friends who slept on the sofa bed had stiff and sore backs the next morning
Adair F. Sep 2016
The house is lovely with everything you could want plus a hot tub. Easy excursions to Gov't Camp or Timberline. Don't miss breakfast at the Barlow Trail Roadhouse. Can't wait to come back and see more of the mountain!
Charlotte C. Aug 2016
The home was comfortable and clean. We loved the kitchen and bathrooms. The only shortcomings were no sheets & pillowcases for the sofa sleeper, lack of privacy in the loft, and needed a larger (or 2) shower curtain(s) in the big bathroom. The deck, brook, hot tub, etc., were wonderful. It was a beautiful view with all the windows, but houses were very closely packed together in this neighborhood. We weren't in the house much, so this didn't bother us much. It's a nice place for our type of purpose (wedding and sightseeing), though I wouldn't recommend if you want to be home more to relax (traffic noise, close neighbors, etc.)
WALEENA C. Aug 2016
This house is well maintained. It was clean and had really nice wooded views. The pictures on the web were accurate. The local manager was great and very help full. We would use Vacasa again. In the future I would rent this house for another week.
Judith H. Aug 2016
Loved this place, will definitely come again.
Sara M. Jul 2016
This house is close to Mt Hood, hiking,Timberline and restaurants.
The house is cozy and has everything you need for a comfortable stay.
The deck and outside seating areas are run down.
You will hear street traffic and you do have visible neighbors surrounding you. It is not in a private setting at all!
Rebecca H. May 2016
Had a great stay! Definitely hope to come back again in the future.
Daniel S. May 2016
Better than advertised. Loved every moment of it.
Jeffrey J. Mar 2016
It was nice sitting in the hot tub after snowboarding all day...great place to rest...thank you we shall return..
Amity W. Feb 2016
Great place to stay, pretty area to go for a run and the hot tub was awesome on a chilly, rainy Oregon evening.
Heather N. Feb 2016
Overall, we made great memories. As a group, we just felt shorted on things and when you spend good money, you only hope to get what you paid for.
Manager response:
We are sorry to see that you were disappointed with your experience with Vacasa. The Property Manager will investigate your reservation to see what we could have done better. We are delighted to see that you still made great memories!
Susan P. Nov 2015
My family and I met up for the weekend. We enjoyed cooking our own traditional foods - salmon, moose meat, and breads. All the cooking and baking supplies we needed were provided. We hiked to Ramona Falls, which took almost 4 hours. It was a pleasure to come back to our meal in the crock pot and the hot tub. We truly enjoyed this beautiful chalet.
