Seabird is a fantastic luxury complex, beautiful property, and has all you need for a great stay in Placencia!

The house was impeccably clean. I think we may have be the first people to stay in the house, so it was very hot when we arrived ( the AC had been turned on before we arrived. It just took a while to cool down). The house does cool down after the AC has run for a while and it is very comfortable while sleeping at night. The location is fantastic. We loved being on the water and so close to downtown Placencia. The beds are extremely comfortable and there is plenty of seating inside of the house. The appliances were modern and in great working condition. we never had any issues with the Wi-Fi. The electricity did go out a few times, for about 30 minutes each time…but I think that’s more common for that area, versus the house.. This is a beautiful house and very comfortable to stay in for a week. I highly recommend and we would be happy to rebook this property.

The Good: Seabird - Villa 21 has fantastic vibe. The location is perfect—close to the airport and just a quick 10-minute golf cart ride to the center of Placencia. We really loved the modern, minimalist aesthetic, and the AC worked flawlessly. The separate "casita" layout was a brilliant touch that gave our older kids their own space, and the private plunge pool was a daily highlight. The kitchen is also much better appointed than your average rental, featuring a great set of pots, pans, and glassware. The Meh: Unfortunately, at roughly $450 a night, the property positions itself as a luxury accommodation but falls short due to frustrating nickel-and-diming and missing details. Amenities and consumables were shockingly sparse. For four people in a hot beach climate, we were given exactly six bathroom towels. We were forced to do laundry nearly daily just to have clean towels. The "lux" feeling disappears when small simple things aren't provided like basic starter pods for the dishwasher or laundry, no cooking basics (salt, pepper, oil), and no replenishment of toilet paper or paper towels over a **12-day** stay. The WTF: The site planning and build quality feel a bit rushed. There is no lighting on the villa number by the driveway, making it incredibly hard to find at night (a simple solar light would fix this). Inside, the shower floors in the slopes poorly (partially/slowly flooding the bathroom), and some fixtures were installed improperly or backward. There is also a severe disconnect between Vacasa's automated help system and the local team, making it hard to get assistance when needed (ghosted days at a time). The Verdict: They have all the pieces in place to make this a stellar property, but the management is missing simple details and trying to save pennies in the wrong places. It made for an unnecessarily annoying experience on what should have been a seamless family vacation.

Life on the peninsula

Placencia is known for its relaxed rhythm—where days are spent barefoot on the beach, biking along the sidewalk in Placencia Village, or browsing local shops and craft stalls. Friendly locals and small eateries line the waterfront, serving up fresh seafood, tropical drinks, and Belizean specialties. It’s the kind of place where time slows down, and every sunset feels like a celebration.

Adventure on land and sea

Outdoor enthusiasts will find endless ways to explore. Spend your days snorkeling or diving at Laughing Bird Caye National Park or Silk Cayes Marine Reserve, both a quick boat ride away. Kayak through mangrove lagoons, go deep-sea fishing, or book a guided excursion to spot manatees and dolphins. Inland, day trips lead to jungle hikes, ancient Maya ruins, and cave tubing adventures. Placencia puts both the reef and the rainforest within easy reach.

Family-friendly fun

Families love the Placencia Peninsula for its calm waters and welcoming atmosphere. Kids can splash in the gentle waves, learn to snorkel in shallow reefs, or take a chocolate-making workshop at a local cacao farm. Stop at Tutti Frutti Gelateria for homemade ice cream, or grab a casual bite at Barefoot Bar. With activities for all ages, it’s an ideal destination for creating lasting family memories.

When to visit

Placencia offers year-round sunshine, with warm tropical breezes and plenty of opportunities to be outdoors. Winter brings peak season with lively events like the Placencia Sidewalk Arts Festival, while summer months offer quieter beaches and great deals. From fishing tournaments to lobster festivals, the peninsula is always alive with culture and celebration.
