Recent Vernon Township vacation rental reviews

Great location and house for a vacation. Host was responsive and helpful.
Will . | Jan 2026
The host was very responsive to questions, before and during our stay. Checkin was easy and smooth. Loved the security of a gated community. Property was well-appointed and spotless. Kitchen was well-equipped. Towels and Linens were new and clean. This is a corner unit. It was so peaceful and quiet. The deck afforded gorgeous views. The slopes are steps Away from the condo. We had lunch at the restaurant inside the Minerals Spa Hotel which is part of the property. Great views in their fireside dining room and delicious food and drink. We visited multiple area highlights including The Farm at Glenwood Mountain and Warwick Winery and Distillery. This was just a perfect Fall getaway. We definitely would stay here again. We booked through Marriott Homes and Villas, but the listing is available through Evolve and other platforms. Thank you to our Host Lisa!

The place was very nice, and it is a beautiful area. It was a bit uncomfortable since the furnace was out and it was cold, however, the management did accommodate us with heaters. Kudos to the manager for always being on top of things and communicative, thank you.

Plan your Vernon Township getaway

Vernon Township makes it easy to build a mountain-and-countryside getaway around resort recreation, Appalachian Trail scenery, and quieter wildlife or farm stops. Vernon Township vacation rentals work well for families, couples, and groups who want a practical home base near Mountain Creek Resort, Stairway to Heaven Trail, and Wallkill River National Wildlife Refuge.

As you compare homes, think about whether you want quick access to Mountain Creek, extra space for ski or bike gear, a pet-friendly stay, or a quieter setting for relaxed nights in. Each home is unique, so review listing details for parking, kitchens, pet policies, WiFi, laundry, fireplaces, outdoor space, and seasonal access notes before you book.

Things to do in Vernon Township

Looking for things to do in Vernon Township, NJ? Start with Mountain Creek and named Appalachian Trail access, then add wetland wildlife scenery, family farm stops, and hands-on aerial adventure based on your season and group’s pace.

Mountain Creek Resort

Mountain Creek Resort is Vernon’s main four-season activity anchor, with winter snow sports, summer waterpark days, bike park laps, and zipline outings centered around the same mountain base. It’s the easiest place to build a full activity day, especially for first-time visitors or groups with different interests.

Best for:

Stairway to Heaven Trail

Stairway to Heaven Trail is a named Appalachian Trail hike in Vernon known for boardwalk sections, farmland views, and the climb toward Pinwheel Vista. Choose it when you want a specific signature hike rather than a general walk in the woods.

Best for:

Wallkill River National Wildlife Refuge

Wallkill River National Wildlife Refuge gives travelers a quieter nature experience near Vernon, with protected wetland and river habitat for birding, photography, and wildlife viewing. It’s a helpful counterpoint to Mountain Creek when your itinerary needs a slower outdoor day.

Best for:

Heaven Hill Farm

Heaven Hill Farm is a Vernon farm market and family attraction with seasonal farm experiences close to the mountain. It works well for families or multigenerational groups looking for an easy countryside stop before or after a Mountain Creek activity day.

TreEscape Aerial Adventure Park

TreEscape Aerial Adventure Park is located at Mountain Creek and offers ropes-course-style challenges for travelers who want a more active, hands-on outdoor outing. It’s a good fit for groups who want climbing, obstacles, and adventure-park energy while staying close to Vernon’s resort base.

Where to eat in Vernon Township

Vernon Township dining is most practical around the Mountain Creek base area, where casual resort dining fits naturally around ski, waterpark, bike park, and zipline days. The area reads more like a mountain-town dining base than a destination restaurant market, so it helps to plan meals around your activity schedule.

If you prefer relaxed mornings or easy dinners after a full day out, look for a vacation rental with the kitchen and dining setup your group needs. Features vary by home, so check each listing for kitchen details, dining space, parking, and proximity to the activities that matter most to your trip.

Vernon Township local tips

Vernon Township events and seasonal highlights

Vernon’s seasonal rhythm often centers on Mountain Creek activities, farm events, and nearby regional festivals, but dates and access can change. Before building a trip around a specific event, check the official venue calendar and current ticketing details.

Heaven Hill Farm can add seasonal farm experiences when current programming is available, while the New York Renaissance Faire belongs in a separate day-trip or seasonal module because it takes place in Tuxedo, New York. Avoid planning around any seasonal light displays, festivals, or special events unless current official details are confirmed.

Day trips from Vernon Township

Vernon Township works well as a mountain base, with nearby New York, Sussex County, and North Jersey outings adding variety when you want a different kind of day. Plan these as separate trips, and check current hours, tickets, road details, and seasonal schedules before you go.

LEGOLAND New York Resort

LEGOLAND New York Resort is located in Goshen, New York, and offers a full day of LEGO-themed rides, play areas, and kid-focused attractions. It’s a good fit for families who want a bigger-ticket theme park day beyond Vernon’s mountain activities.

New York Renaissance Faire

The New York Renaissance Faire is a seasonal event in Tuxedo, New York, built around costumed performances, artisan vendors, and themed entertainment. Use it as a timely day-trip idea only when the faire is in season and current event details are refreshed.

Franklin Mineral Museum

Franklin Mineral Museum is a Sussex County museum focused on local mineral history, fluorescent rocks, and mining heritage. It works well as a shorter regional outing for families, curious kids, and travelers who want a geology-focused stop.

Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area

Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area is a larger National Park Service destination with river scenery, hiking, waterfalls, and forested landscapes along the Delaware River. Plan it as the bigger nature day trip when you want a broader outdoor experience than Vernon’s in-town trail and resort options.

Paterson Great Falls National Historical Park

Paterson Great Falls National Historical Park centers on the Great Falls of the Passaic River and Paterson’s role in early American industry. It’s a strong contrast to Vernon’s mountain setting for travelers who want an urban history and landmark outing.
