I lived in San Clemente for over 20 years and walked by this house hundreds of times so I was very happy to rent it. It's very close to the downtown (like one block over from Del Mar the main street in SC) and all the shops and restaurants. That is the main reason I gave them four stars. Here is why I ding them one star. When we first walked into the house there was a very strong smell in the house, similar to being in an Antique store. We opened as many windows as we could to air the place out and that seemed to work very well. We tried to turn on the fan in the main living area but it did not work. I called Vacasa when we arrived on Thursday because of the overhead fan but they never called me back. Two days later a fan on a stand miraculously appeared and no one in our family knew where it came from? I guess Vacasa had someone drop it off. If they would have just called me I would have said it was not necessary. The house is very nice but it's littered with sticky notes asking you to not move this and not touch that, I guess they had guests that did not treat there home very well. My only other complaint is we did not have the entire house to ourselves. When I asked Vacasa if we had the entire house they said yes but they don't tell you that someone is living on the same property above you in the same house (they do not have access to your section of the house but they do live there full-time). The gentleman living above us was not super noisy but you can hear him walking around. It was Vacasa's misrepresentation of the total home that bothered me, had I known in advance I would have still rented the house and I would rent it again if I needed to stay in San Clemente. Loved the history behind the house built in 1927 and apparently the fourth house built in San Clemente.
