Birch Bay is home to an abundance of outdoor access. Between fishing, boating, golfing, and multiple trails for hiking or running, you’ll never be short of activity. A short drive across the Canadian border into BC will take you to some of the best whale-watching locations in the region, plus more hiking and water recreation. Or you could take a day-trip via ferry to the San Juan Islands, remote areas off the coast of Washington filled with small-town charm and even more outdoor access.

A trip into the nearby university city of Bellingham will grant you access to multiple breweries, coffee roasters, restaurants, and more. Be sure to explore the cute downtown area, stopping along the locally-owned outdoor retailers to gear up for your next Washington adventure. Camber Coffee is a great place for an espresso, and to sit outside and people-watch or read.
