Charming Vintage House with Tranquil Garden - Just Two Blocks to the Beach

With its eclectic mixture of 1950s architecture and personalized decor, your stay in this charming one bedroom Neskowin vacation rental will show you why this little coastal burg has a big reputation for peace, tranquility, and natural beauty. A mere two blocks from the beach, this unique vacation home - with its bottle-cap mosaic on the kitchen table, wood-burning fireplace, and big deck - will endear you to its unique atmosphere and make you feel right at home.

Come inside! The blue entrance door with distressed finish tells you that this is a special place. The interior is filled with vibrant colors set against a wood-paneled ceiling, with memorabilia that softens the otherwise modern architecture. Toss another log in the wood fireplace, its multi-tiled facade is probably unlike any fireplace you've seen. While you're basking in the warmth of the fire, enjoy a DVD or simply plan your upcoming day in Neskowin. On a nice evening, you can head out to the outdoor fire pit, spin some tales, and roast some marshmallows in the cool coastal air.

The line of sea-themed tableaus above the fully equipped kitchen reminds you, this is a place by the sea. On evenings you do stay in for meals, you'll have a refrigerator, stovetop/oven, and lots of counter space in this cute kitchen to turn out delicious vacation meals. And while there's no dishwasher, you can just let the dishes soak while you finish up the last of the wine or head down to the beach for a stunning sunset. And don't forget, meals can be enjoyed at the colorful bottle top table, plus there's also a breakfast bar for snacks.

When it's time to turn in, the bedroom of this Oregon Coast vacation rental has a queen sized bed and a whole bunch of country-like charm. There's also a twin rollaway bed in the closet for even more sleeping options, as well as a sleeper sofa in the living room. A family of up to five can definitely sleep comfortably here!

From the decorative tile-filled full bathroom to the high efficiency washer and dryer, this Neskowin home has style, charm, and all the comforts of home. Outside - past the big deck with comfortable chairs and a gas grill where you can spend a lazy afternoon - is the tiny and quiet town of Neskowin. A good golf game is just around the corner at Neskowin Marsh Golf Course. But maybe before you tee-off, grab the camera and experience the real reason to come to the beautiful beach town of Neskowin.

Flanked on one side by lush green forests on one side, and the majestic Pacific on the other, both forest and water offer myriad things to do, and memorable sites just waiting to be he star of your vacation photos. Take, for instance, Proposal Rock, a tree-lined basalt sea-stack with its own unique history. Or, check out the Ghost Forest where you'll find a cluster of mysterious, centuries old tree stumps. Some more great shots from your walk along Cascade Head Trail that wends around Neskowin and the surrounding area. And Nestucca Bay - a few minutes north - is a favorite place for water sports, so feel free to borrow the kayak and have an adventure.

Experience this one-of-a-kind Neskowin cottage and find out way the Oregon Coast is such a popular destination for vacationers from just about everywhere.

The house is in a perfect location, close to everything. It really needs a new fridge though.
James K. Jul 2022
This is a fun and whimsical place really close to everything Neskowin. You can stay here a week and still find new things to amuse and intrigue.
James L. Feb 2022
Lovely home with eclectic decor. Easy walk to beach. Check out time too early.
Wendy R. Feb 2022
This cottage is so comfy and cozy to stay in. Neskowin is a great little town that is quiet. The two combined with an amazing beach makes this place a great destination to get away to. I love to come here to relax. Will be back again!!!
Katie V. Jan 2022
We had a great time staying here. I really appreciate the unique and non cookie cutter decor. This home feels incredibly spacious for a one bedroom. I love that you can park your car and not use it while you are there as all the essentials are close by. Be aware that the nearby store closes early at 4pm a few weeknights so make your needed purchases in advance. We love this little town.
Echo M. Nov 2021
We spent our honeymoon weekend here without the kids. The house is weird and quirky, but in the most fun way possible. We enjoyed the kitchen, as we spent the entire weekend cooking homemade meals and saving our budget for fun activities.
Susan T. Oct 2021
It was like going to grandmas cottage on the beach. Living area was spacious and bright! A very short walk to the beach or the adorable mercantile. The bed is comfy. Bring your own salt or other seasonings. The kitchen amenities amenities are a bit dated but worked great for us. For the price it was perfect and we’d stay here again. (Oh NO WiFi but that was ok because … it’s the Beach!).
John and Jana J. Oct 2021
We enjoyed the owners sense of decor humor. It’s like a treasure hunt as one looks at the memorabilia that adds spice to this charming home. We had a quiet stay at the tail end of tourist season during our mid-week visit. I love Neskowin. Best beach walking, and fun biking on little streets and pathways.
Susan T. Aug 2021
This house has a nice outside deck area. Close to the beach
Caroline M. Apr 2021
didn’t love it. amenities were limited. if you plan on doing any cooking, bring your own supplies. knives were dangerously dull. the back deck was covered in sensory beads making it unusable. access to the beach was nice and the house had plenty of space. could use some major updates and improvements.
Manager response:
Thank you for your review, Caroline! We will ask the homeowner for sharper knives and have taken care of the missed water beads. We hope to see you again!
Andrea S. Nov 2020
I was only able to stay for two nights, but it was wonderful. It was nice to be able to stay in and relax with a book and then go for a walk on the beach! It was nice to have a socially distanced weekend where we could stay in, cook, relax, and enjoy the outdoors. 10/10, would stay again!
Jennifer R. Oct 2020
The house was just right for a fall getaway. Very close to the beach, and the yard is perfectly situated to pick up the last of the October sunlight.
Susan T. Aug 2020
The location was perfect. The outside deck and yard space was great, plenty of room to spread out😃
Ginger P. Jul 2020
Be prepared for a large 6 foot pirate to be hanging from the ceiling to greet you when you enter the front door. Bring your own DVDs if you’d like to watch television to unwind; the DVD “library” is very small and extremely limited for use on the one small tv in the living room. There is no WiFi access so if accessing emails or other online things are important to you just be advised. The location is great for walking to the beach and the parking is great. The backyard is nice and comfortable.
Manager response:
Hi Ginger, We're pleased to hear that you enjoyed your time near the beach! The home decor is owner preference and visible on the website's photos and virtual walkthrough. Wi-Fi access is not an amenity that is offered at this home. We appreciate your response and look forward to hosting your next trip!
Wendy R. Jul 2020
I really enjoyed staying in this cottage. It was comfortable and the Neskowin area is so amazing!
Andrew R. Mar 2020
Great kitchen and cozy living room with a huge deck. Super close to a beautiful beach. Bed was a little hard on my bad back though. But overall a great place for our anniversary vacation.
Sara M. Nov 2019
What a fun and cozy little place to stay in a really great town on the coast! The location is excellent; it's a quick walk to a beautiful beach and a short stroll to truly delicious food. The neighborhood is adorable, and the cottage was perfectly sized and outfitted for our little family of 3.
Greg V. Aug 2019
Nice location in a small town (less crowd) and close to a beautiful beach . The washer and dryer were a nice bonus.
Charitie J. Jul 2019
This is actually our second time at this location. We enjoyed it both times.
Jordan O. Jun 2019
Its was such a great place! Awesome little town in a great area of the beach. The house had a feel of going on a trip to grandmas house with a great comfort to it... Would absolutely rent this again!!
Anita M. Jun 2019
We totally felt like we were at grandparents home! Loved the homey vibe, so unique ❤️❤️❤️
Marcia H. Jun 2019
The cottage is close to the beach/ocean, quite convenient. The Darrs have humor in their décor and maintain their yard with natural plants and clever decorations. The cottage is clean and comfortable.
Alyce T. Mar 2019
Great location, nice garden and yard space, and obviously a well loved beach home. Loved the fun decor and had plenty of room for us three women. It’s a hoot!
Jackie S. Mar 2019
It's quaint, quirky cute.. Nice area close to the beach
Emily W. Feb 2019
We love Neskowin. Especially since it’s possible to stay for a whole weekend without having to get in the car to go anywhere. We enjoyed having everything we needed to cook meals, watch movies, and play games we brought with us. Things were mostly clean and the space was perfect for two people. We enjoyed the novelty of this cabin and would stay again.
Charitie J. Sep 2018
The location of the house was perfect, just a block from the beach. The home was very clean and peaceful. One recommendation though, get rid of the creepy man hanging from the ceiling in the living room. That would make it a little more romantic for us couples that go and enjoy it.
Audrey A. Aug 2018
My mom and I had a nice stay, loved the walkability of the neighborhood - to the beach, to the market, and to the cafe. Quirky home but comfortable, the backyard was awesome, we lucked out with some sunny days so we could sit outside and enjoy it.
George F. Aug 2018
We enjoyed our stay. However the home did not have the internet. Internet woudl have made it much better.
angela m. Aug 2018
Super cute beach house! Tons of personality.
However the shower head was only tall enough for a 5 year old. Hopefully the owners change it to a hand held style so my 5'8" self can wash my hair without smacking my head multiple times.
Edward D. Jul 2018
The accommodation was more than what i expected. Your rental process was quick and easy
Ann M. Jun 2018
This little house is perfectly located to the beach and the store. It is decorated to the nines with funky interesting cool stuff everywhere....if you have a sense of fun this is the place for you!
Chris C. Jun 2018
We had our wedding in pacific city, stayed in this cottage. It was amazing had lots of room to have family stop in for a visit.. it was relaxing and very peaceful the neighborhood was very friendly, and short walk to the beach! Loved it!!!!!
Karen P. Apr 2018
Very nice home with so much to look at. So much artistic flair. Just when I thought I had seen everything I would notice one more cute wall hanging. I especially loved the conk shell with the stuffed crab crawling out of it. The home was clean and comfortable.
Kathy K. Feb 2018
My family of four loves quirky things, we also love unique places, but one thing we couldn't get behind was outdated bedding and grandparent decor. I initally was excited by the actual house and location. Neskowin is a very charming town with picturesque beach homes and this house was very close to the beach.

RENTER BEWARE: The house is filled with dingy grandma decor/ tattered bedding and has a HANGING PIRATE(with a wig and knife in mouth) IN THE MIDDLE OF THE LIVING ROOM. The reason why I am accenting that part is because I didn't know that until after I booked and my kids were FREAKED!

COLD NIGHT: When we arrived the heat was not turned on and we spent a very cold day/night there trying to heat up the house with one heater located in the living room and no heat in the bedroom. I had to sleep with my jacket on....not even joking.

COULD BE BETTER STOCKED: We have stayed in many places at the coast and I would say that this one was the least stocked as far as things like cooking oil, sugar, salt, pepper. There were none of these so be prepared and expect nothing in any cabinets.

RENT IN THE SUMMER: It might be a nice place to stay in the Summer because you are outside a lot but if you are staying there during the wintery months, when you can't really go outside, get a better place that doesn't have a mannequin hanging in the center of the house.
Manager response:
The home decor is owner preference and clearly visible on the website's photos and 3D tour. If guests are disturbed by the decor, they are more than welcome to contact local staff to have it removed or covered up temporarily during their stay. Typically our staff turns on the wall heaters during inspection a few hours prior to guests arrival--we apologize this was not done for this reservation. Guests are always welcome to call in for local staff to bring space heaters and blankets if needed. There is also a wood burning fireplace that can provide ample heat and wood is available for purchase at the Neskowin Trading Post approximately 0.25 miles away from the home. Homeowners are not obligated to stock the home with cooking supplies; however, we will notify them none of these basic items are available and have them stocked prior to the next guest.
Craig O. Oct 2017
We had a really nice stay at the Darr House Cottage. We had friends over for dinner and we took a long walk on the beach. The living room had plenty of seating and everyone lo so quaint and quiet!
This would be a great spot in the summer to enjoy the over sized deck and beautifully landscaped yard.
GRACE S. Oct 2017
A fun small house located in the heart of Neskowin, only a block plus to beach and the same to "downtown" Neskowiin--grocery story, restaurants, so very centrally located. Great deck and yard. Bed was very comfortable, as were furnishings. Very much the kind of beach cottage an average person might have, no fancy furnishings or granite but very comfortable!
Lisa B. Oct 2017
This house is fun, super close to beach. I like the easy access to the 101, and to the beach. Fun little house.
Dulcie H. Sep 2017
Can't wait to book it again.
Laura B. Aug 2017
Not worth the money, too many issues, shower for short people, refrigerator smelled bad, dryer not working. To much personal stuff, to much high dust.
Masako J. Aug 2017
Great place. Very quiet.
No mosquitoes or annoying flies.
You need to do groceries 10 miles before you get here. There's a store but very expensive.
Lisa B. Jul 2017
Kenneth L. Apr 2017
A very enjoyable place to stay, with lots of character. I hope they replace the deck furniture soon.
Philip A. Sep 2016
This place is quirky and fun. If you're looking for super modern or luxurious, this isn't it. This is beach side, water life, live with a sense of humor style.
Carolyn C. Sep 2016
My partner and I had a lovely quiet weekend at this cottage. The location is unbeatable, less than a minute walk to the beach. The cottage itself was the perfect size for us. Open but not too big. There was a cute little town center within walking distance as well where we enjoyed a nice breakfast. Our only complaint was the life sized hanging pirate that was hanging from the living room ceiling. We found it quite terrifying to walk into that but we were able to ignore "Captain Jack" after awhile. The kitchen could be a little more stocked as well, only one pan to cook on, but not a big deal. Overall great experience and location.
Christiane L. Aug 2016
Neskowin is a lovely little town, and the whole area is beautiful. The house is spacious, as well as the deck and the garden. You can decide from the photos if you mind the many personal items that will surround you (we were not crazy about them, but did not mind). What we, however, found really disappointing were the amenities in the kitchen and the bathroom. A little investment would go a long way: New cutlery, a real frying-pan, a hair-dryer etc. Some of the furniture (especially on the deck) is very worn and old. Only stools (and no real chairs) around the dining table also are uncomfortable after two days.
Manager response:
We apologize that kitchen utensils and seating are currently lacking at this home; the owner is aware and plans on replacing these items in the near future. We apologize that we do not have a current time frame in which to expect these improvements, and we greatly appreciate our guests' patience with the matter.
Raymond B. Jul 2016
My kids & i enjoyed our trip the house was fine but i would not stay in it again just seemed like they didnt put any money or time back into the house to make it nice for guests!
Lori R. Jul 2016
We enjoyed three days in Neskowin. The beach is so beautiful and the neighborhood is charming and fun to explore. The house was comfortable and fit our family of five nicely. We liked the large back deck and the yard, too. The house and furnishings are older and quirky. The life-size hanging pirate was a bit much but we got used to it!
Kim M. Jun 2016
We enjoyed our stay in this house. It was nice to be so close to the beach and in such a nice, quiet town. Everyone we came talked to was very nice and there were some good choices at the store/deli around the corner. The kitchen was very well stocked with utensils and most everything else needed to prepare and cook food. The town was close to other tourist areas, but at the end of the day, we were very happy to come back to the house and little town.
Karen G. Jun 2016
This cottage was very interesting. Very eclectic and artsy in its own way. The pirate in the main room was a little scary to the children who slept out there. The pictures in the ad make it look like a rope swing for fun, but it wasn't. I enjoyed the pirate story history, which the owners had typed up. The beach was close and just wonderful for finding shells, going into the water and jogging the long stretch. The neighborhood was just wonderful with many flowers and even deer that came to visit. The backyard was spacious with a fire pit and again very interesting with knicknacks and mature foliage on the plants.
I'm not sure I would recommend this to anyone without preparing them for what they might find. Also, the bedding was so worn it was difficult to tell how clean they were. The kitchen had little to no spices, oils etc. Be prepared to bring everything. It did have enough cooking pans, baking items and utensils.
Nikki C. May 2016
My boyfriend and I went to get away for the weekend. It was a cozy, romantic place to be. We loved the house, the room and yard.
Eric H. Dec 2015
Great location!
Lack of WiFi makes business travel extremely difficult.
Chiew J. Jul 2015
We loved the beach house. We noticed that the propane tank was empty and we were thrilled that Vacasa rental was able to send someone to replace it on the same day. Our family had a great time bonding closer together. Thank you!!
Ann M. Jul 2015
The Darrs obviously are full of fun and they share their enthusiasm in every detail of the house and garden. It's so funny and so wonderful!
Riann A. Jan 2015
We really enjoyed our stay at Darrs Beach House. It was relaxing and comfortable, close to the beautiful beach and not far from Pacific City and Lincoln City. The beach house is homely and welcoming, and had all the amenities we needed for a great winter break.
JOhn B. Nov 2014
Great location our family was walking distance away our friends and family.
Susan O. Sep 2014
First, Neskowin is darling and charming. Perfect calm environment and beautiful stretch of beach. The location of Darr's Cottage is right in the heart. The cottage itself is quirky , unique and like gramma's cottage with representation from multi generations loved on between it's walls and in the yard. NOW FOR THE DOWNSIDE - it's not YOUR gramma's. If you are a VRBO frequenter, you know that most houses are appointed to welcome and accommodate guests. This cottage gives the distinct feeling you are more of an inconvenience than a welcomed guest and the distinct impression that behind the multiple locked cabinets and doors are the linens and cookware saved FROM renters FOR owners. Even the closets that were not locked had owners shoes and clothes in them. Kinda weird feeling. The linens were circa 1970 as were the bed and pillows - no joke. A coil electric blanket without a cord that I swear my nana bought new in 1970. The bakeware had multiple generations of carcinogens baked on and the BBQ ....nope. I was very glad my kids brought their own favorite blankets because the couches are....well loved on too, and the "spare" linen...not going to happen. There were so many family teddy bears and trinkets on all the surfaces that it was kinda hard to find places to put your own things and not get it lost in the stuff. Definitely could use a good deep cleaning and purging. All this said, would we rent there again? Maybe. It is charming like I said, in a gramma but not your gramma kinda way. I would definitely suggest your own sheets, blankets, pillows, a few cook ware pieces, your own sponge and maybe a hibachi if you like to grill. It is a nice location in a great little town and the neighbors were delightful. So was community. If you are up for adventure, this is a good place to start.
Manager response:
Thank you for taking the time to share your review with us. We agree that this charming cabin is in a fantastic location for a family vacation. We will definitely pass your feedback about the linens and cookware to our local staff so that we can look into making improvements. We hope you'll come stay again!
Michael Y. Aug 2014
Had short walk to beach, nice little store and café close by. Everyone in town very friendly. Golf course was even within walking distance with club rentals. Had a wonderful time and would come back to Neskowin in the future.
Stephen M. Jul 2014
We loved the cottage and we also loved the fact that Neskowin wasn't touristy or trendy, just a nice, laid back community filled with very friendly people. The beach is lovely and the cottage very comfortable. We plan to return again and hopefully can stay longer!
Yoonmee C. Apr 2014
It was our first time to Neskowin and we didn't know what to expect. What a pleasant surprise! We loved the little sleepy town and the beautiful quaint beach area. We've ventured out to check out Pacific city and Lincoln city for a day. The location is perfect for everything! The house itself was great as well. It is nice, cosy and clean. Our dog loved the back yard as much as we did. I've already recommended this place to my friends and we'll definitely come back! Thanks again!
Manager response:
Thank you this great review! We are always pleased to hear when guests are so happy with the home and location they stayed in that they pass it on to friends and family. It's wonderful that you enjoyed the area and this cozy home. We hope you'll visit again.
Renee W. Feb 2014
Had a great time. Short walk to beach. Fenced back yard for our little dogs. Lincoln City and Pacific City a short drive away. Wonderful Cafe within walking distance.
Lisa Y. Feb 2014
We loved the quiet beauty of Neskowin and the coziness of Darr's Beach House. We had hard-driving rain and sand-filled wind most of the weekend, but we enjoyed playing cards by the fire, watching the Olympics, cooking in, and bundling up to venture out. The beach house has lots of touches that make it welcoming, the wood fireplace was wonderful, the bed very comfortable. We had everything we needed for a quiet weekend away.
Mary H. Sep 2013
I would stay again. Very peaceful & beautiful. Loved the decor.
Nettie B. Aug 2013
The beach colors and all of the ocean memorabilia added a nice touch. Although we couldn't see the ocean, we could hear it, and we could see the coastal fog on the cliffs to the south. Great price for location.
