The neighborhood:
Kihei Akahi's position opposite Kamaole II makes South Kihei feel unusually simple. The beach is there for swimming or a sunset walk, and Kamaole I lies close by when you want to keep walking north. South Kihei Road has nearby casual restaurants, stores, and the kinds of everyday stops that make a family trip smoother. The complex's two pools, tennis court, and grills give you a change of scene without adding a drive. This is an easy place to settle into the Maui habit of checking the ocean before deciding the day's plan.

Getting around:
Kahului Airport is about 20 to 30 minutes away, an easy drive down Maui's sunny south shore. A rental car is recommended to make the most of Kihei's many beaches, shops, and restaurants spread along the coast. Some stretches near South Kihei Road are walkable to dining and shopping, while beaches are often just minutes away. Parking is typically available on site, in lots, or along nearby streets.
