Spacious Dog-Friendly Getaway with Boat Parking - Perfect for Two Families

Come stay at this unique and comfortable Pacific City vacation rental, where you will have the time of your life! With amazing ocean views, a dog-friendly attitude, and two distinct living areas, this home is the perfect place to plan your beach getaway.

Located just on the south side of town, the Pacific City Carousel House is close to restaurants and businesses in Pacific City, and still just a couple minutes away from the beach by car. The wrap around windows located upstairs offer an amazing view of the bay, river and the Pacific Ocean, as well as an overview of the city.

This three-bedroom, two-bathroom vacation home is arranged in an extremely unique way: it is round so you can take advantage of the spectacular views and coastal scenery! The interior is handicap-friendly, with a stair lift, electric lift/recline armchair, and living spaces on the ground floor, so even guests who may have mobility issues will be very comfortable here.

The lower level of this home has a living space with comfortable seating including a sectional sofa that doubles as a queen-sized sofa bed, a cozy wood stove, and a flatscreen TV. Throughout the house you will have cable television, DVD/Blu-ray players with a selection of DVDs, and WiFi access. This lower level also has a kitchenette with a full-size fridge and a microwave, as well as a washer and dryer that will come in handy in case anyone's clothes get a little dirty while playing on the beach.

Two of the three bedrooms and one full bathroom (with a tub/shower combo) are also on this ground level. Both bedrooms feature warm and soft queen-size beds where you and your guests will sleep soundly. Upstairs, a third enormous bedroom offers a sitting area, closets, an ADA-spec bathroom with a shower, and a king-size bed. Altogether, this home has bed space for up to six guests, though we welcome up to 10 people to stay here as long as you bring your own sleeping bags or are comfortable sleeping on sofas.

This upper level of the home is where you will love to sit, relax, and gaze out the many windows at the ocean view. In the living room you will find more seating and another flatscreen TV, in addition to another queen sized sofa-bed. Though you may just prefer to admire the amazing scenery instead! With panoramic vistas of the ocean and the bay, you and your guests will love this space.

A full kitchen is also on this upper level, so you will have no trouble at all whipping up any type of meal. With all major appliances (including a dishwasher for easy clean-up) and plenty of equipment and serviceware, all you need to do is bring along your own groceries and get cooking! A fold-out dining room table can seat up to eight guests, and a breakfast bar has stools for two more, so this is a great opportunity to sit down together as a family and enjoy a nice breakfast before heading out for the day.

Outside, a fenced back yard is the perfect place for children or dogs to play. This home welcomes up to four dogs, though a nightly fee per dog and minimum fee per stay will apply. If you walk out onto the deck from the upper floor, you will find a lovely area where you can watch the ocean, breathe in the fresh sea air, and use the gas grill to cook up a casual lunch of burgers for everyone.

This home also has an outdoor sink and fish-cleaning station, so if you happen to go fishing, crabbing, or clamming in the area, feel free to clean your catch outside before taking it inside to cook! There is ample parking, so don't be afraid to bring your cars, a boat, or whatever other transportation you need to have a great vacation.

Nearby in Pacific City you will find plenty of amazing restaurants, such as the well-loved Pelican Pub and Brewery, where you can get anything from pizza to seafood. Take a walk around town and visit some small shops, grab a coffee, and maybe even book a horseback ride on the beach!

Around the area you will want to visit the beachfront state parks, walk along the coastline, and admire the views. More adventurous guests may enjoy taking a hike around the Nestucca Bay National Wildlife Refuge, going on a fishing charter trip, or even visiting the Oregon Hang Gliding School for some instruction and training before you take some guided runs down the dunes.

Pacific City is in a convenient spot along the coast, so you could even drive south about 30 minutes to reach Lincoln City and its popular beaches, souvenir shops, and casino. If you feel like heading north instead, a 35-minute drive will take you to wonderful Tillamook, where you will find bayfishing opportunities, an air museum, and a world-famous cheese factory.

Whether you decide to stay at this cozy Northern Oregon Coast vacation rental and admire the ocean views, or get out and explore the region, this home in Pacific City is a wonderful place to stay while you're in the area!

the view is amazing. nice to just sit outside and watch the ocean. the pictures are outdated. the place does need some work and it is not handicapped accessible any longer but it is in a quiet neighborhood that is a short drive to town and the beach.
Nanette B. May 2022
The views are beautiful, could use updating on linens , towels & bbque.
Lisa S. Dec 2021
The carousel house was pretty nice but there were some rotted/ soft boards in the balcony that should be tended to before someone gets hurt.
April P. Oct 2021
this house was just what we wanted, the view is gorgeous! The house had even more room than we thought. Also was stocked with everything we needed. Only advice, bring extra blankets
Brandy S. Sep 2021
This house is comfortably stocked and homey. We had a puppy, two kids, and 5 adults (two couples and a single. The space was perfect for that number of people. We did not have access to the side building. The only thing I would say as a helpful tip is that if you plan to cook may want to bring favorite sauté Pan and some wooden utensils.

The description and pics are outdated as this rental is. Besides smelling moldy which I know happens on the coast, there was mold built up in places, the blinds didn’t work right at all, one bedroom had a huge panel missing in the ceiling which was creepy and scary, There are several rotten planks on the second floor outside deck. Pay close attention where you are stepping, and don’t allow children outside unsupervised. Foxglove and Mole Plant grow in the yard and driveway; the former is deadly poisonous, so keep an eye on pets & children. The milky sap of the latter can cause nasty skin irritation. Yard was overgrown. Also the stairs area is a huge accident waiting to happen. That should be included in the description.
Cherril S. Jul 2021
We had deer everyday in our yard and walking through the neighborhood. We seen Bald Eagles flying close! The kids loved the outside deck which goes around the whole upper floor. It was safe however, some of the boards needed replaced and some of the nails were exposed. We loved the stereo in the house. It was a very pleasant stay and a beautiful view!
Manager response:
Hello Cherril, we are pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay! Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We will be sure to pass your suggestions along to our local manager who will work with our homeowner to make necessary upgrades. We look forward to hosting you again!
Chris C. Jun 2021
Based on previous reviews we knew this would not be top scale lodging but it was one of the few options left for the MemorialDay weekend when our previous plans tanked. The house was fully functional and some of the previous issues have been addressed.

The good: View is excellent like most of the houses on the hill in PC. Nice split level design to accommodate 2 separate family units (each with own kitchen and bathroom). To floor has new appliances that worked fine when we used them (not much except fridge).

The bad - first floor smells like mold/mildew and no amount of Febreeze took it away. Yard is severely overgrown and mostly unusable for pets. House was mostly clean on arrival but the downstairs was not 100% cleaned after prior occupant. Beds fairly comfy but other furniture is horribly uncomfortable. Luckily we were at the beach most of the time so the negatives were minor inconveniences.

Manager response:
Hello Chris! We are pleased to hear that the home met your expectations! Thank you for making mention of items in the home that need some TLC. We take this feedback seriously and please know that local staff is available to assist with any issues you encounter while in the home. We hope to have the chance to host you again. Thank you!

The house is adorable, the view is amazing. Cleanliness needs much improvement, please take some pride in this home. It is a lovely house, but from badly stained pull out sofas mattresses to kids finding a use men’s brief in the closet downstairs. Unacceptable! Please hold the maintenance/cleaning crew accountable. Everyone who stays here pays a cleaning fee for a reason!
Richard R. Oct 2020
We loved it here so much room and so peaceful
Tiffany S. Oct 2020
its a great place to stay with great views and plenty of space. The neighborhood is quiet.
Kevin B. Aug 2020
The location was great and the view was fantastic. However, the house itself was extremely disappointing and not worth the cost :

1. The house was dirty and not just a beach location dirty, dirty as in doesn’t appear to have been cleaned properly. There was dried food on the kitchen utensils, old pasta between the stacked bowls in the cupboard, lip marks on the coffee mugs to name a few. The downstairs bed sheets appeared to have not been washed and there was sand between them.
2. The house advertises a fenced yard and is pet friendly. The yard was completely overgrown and was not usable at all for our dogs. This was especially disappointing since it was brought up in the December 2019 review and acknowledged.
3. Key appliances didn’t work properly. The refrigerator/freezer were not cool/cold – despite being on the coldest setting, a lot of our food spoiled. The dryer made horrible screeching sounds and didn’t actually dry even after multiple cycles. The oven was extremely old and the settings were hard to read so food burnt very easily.
4. There were no supplies. The only trash bag was the one in the trash can, there was half a roll of paper towels and only 2 toilet paper rolls. For a house that can accommodate a group of 10, it all lasted less than a day.

Under normal circumstances, the cleanliness and overall condition of the house was unacceptable but especially during the pandemic when the standards were promised to be even higher.
Manager response:
Hi, Kevin! We are so sorry the home was not properly ready for your arrival; we do have high expectations and are disappointed we missed the mark. The owner is working on getting new appliances in the home, and the property manager will discuss your other concerns with the owner and local staff. Thank you!
Robert G. Dec 2019
This house was a huge disappointment. For $200+ a night we paid for a nice view and that was it. The grounds were filthy, the backyard "suitable for dogs & kids" was so overgrown we could not even get to it. A toilet, bathroom fan, several outlets, a faucet did not work. There was no hot water in either showers. The carpet was super stained. Heat could not be regulated from one floor to the other. Blinds did not work in some of the rooms so opening windows during wind was impossible. The deck was not safe to be used. The BBQ was rusted. This house should not be rented out period until some serious improvements/upgrades and repairs are made.
Manager response:
Thank you for your review, Robert. We are sorry to read you found your stay so disappointing. The carpet is scheduled to be cleaned and landscaping is scheduled for maintenance. Our team checked the showers, faucets, and fans and were unable to detect any issues. The grill is in the process of getting replaced. We do hope to have another chance to impress you in the future!

I go Pacific city every year .One of my favorite beaches next to cannon beach which is too expensive And Long Beach Washington it’s very nice too.
The pelican is not very kid friendly place made for the new yuppie millennium crowd My kids love the beach and climb the Cape
Lynn B. Aug 2019
Spectacular weather. Amazing view. Accommodated the family well.
Leslie S. Aug 2019
This was supposed to accommodate 10 people. We had 6 adults, 2 teenagers, and 2 kids (6 and 8 years old). The price seemed reasonable before the fees, but worked out to close to $1500 for three nights. That's $500/night. But sometimes you have to pay for a nice stay. The problem was, it wasn't nice.

We expected it to be comfortable and clean. It was neither. It felt like we were staying in someone's home; a home that was in bad need of updates and a deep clean. The yard around the house was also in bad shape. The word my sister used was "dingy." Mostly it felt like a huge disappointment.

The 6 adults got queen (and one king) bed, but two of the bedrooms were in what felt like a dark, clammy basement. The two teenagers each got a fold out sofa bed (not comfortable, and we had to find the linens for these; a treasure hun!), so we put the little kids on sofa cushions on the floor because sharing one of those fold out beds between kids wouldn't have been comfortable. It all worked out; everyone was fine. But was it worth $500/night? No.

The living space wasn't great, especially since we would have had to fold away the couch/bed to accommodate our group, and we were using the cushions as beds. The kitchen table was way too small for us. No can opener. Broken plastic outdoor furniture, porch boards that were waiting to give you splinters. Won't be staying here again. It could be a great rental, but it needs a lot of work. It did have a lovely view, though.
Manager response:
We are sorry to see you were not happier with your stay, Leslie. A landscaper has been scheduled to handle the outside, and we are discussing possible furniture and kitchen upgrades with the owner. Thank you!

Michael F. Apr 2019
We enjoyed our time there.
Javier F. M. Apr 2019
Very good location! Beautiful views and close to amenities. Next time I'll have to rent it when weather is a little better for the beach. We def relaxed as intended.
Melinda H. Oct 2018
We had a nice quiet vacation, the place was comfortable, although if you have noisy group, you can hear from above and below. Rooms were clean, although plenty of spiders outside, overall, it was comfortable, clean and functional.
Richele B. Oct 2018
It was a lovely home. Comfortable, clean and quiet.
Melissa S. Oct 2018
This is a very functional house but dated. It reminds me of my grandparent's house.
Michelle M H. Aug 2018
It was a really comfortable house. Pictures online made the living areas look a little bigger than they were, but it was perfect for our needs. Upon arrival we found that one of the support beams for the deck was broken, it was covered in yellow caution tape. We just avoided the deck area.
Ellee M. Aug 2018
View was killer!! My family and I have come to Pacific city Oregon for the last 12 years but we have never stayed on this side of town!! Walking distance to bakery, coffee shops and restaurants, only 2 milea to beach!
Nancy M. Jul 2018
Loved the stairmaster. Worked great. The view and the deer wandering thru the houses yard and the neighborhood. Was so nice to come back to at end of day and just share with extended family.
Carmen B. Jul 2018
This is a lovely home with an incredible view of the ocean. The home is clean and well-appointed. I appreciated the large enclosed area for my dog.
Lynette R. Dec 2017
We loved staying here. Great view, loved the decor and will be staying again!
Katie K. Nov 2017
This place was perfect for relaxing and staring at the ocean. The view was amazing and the deer that came through every day was neat too. This is a quiet little town, so if you're looking to get away from it all this is your place although it's perfectly situated between two towns with more sights to see and things to do. One drawback that we found is although we wanted to sit around and relax we could only do so on the couches as the chairs they have are either broken or do not recline. The owners of this house left a lot of little trinkets and antique furniture which was really neat and reminded us not to take for granted that it is someone else's house but was easy to make it our home for our stay. Enjoyed the wrap around deck and fireplace to watch the wind, hail and lightning storm that came through. The secure fenced yard was also a selling point for us and was a treat for the dogs as we didn't have to worry about potty breaks on a leash. The bed was super comfortable as well. They have a weather station that tells you the wind etc, but was sad to see that someone broke the binoculars and we weren't able to use them to spot whales. All in all we enjoyed our trip, the house is dated but not in a way that it's run down and not enjoyable as it was clean and comfortable.
Sloan B. Sep 2017
Quiet neighborhood. Kitchen setup with everything you need. Great price.
Valerie S. Sep 2017
This location was good, not walkable to the beach but we knew that going in. The deck and view was why we booked this spot and ended up loving that. Pacific City is awesome! There were lots of little things about the house that need to be improved that would make it excellent and a place I would stay in again. Outdoor lighting did not work, loose boards on deck, cigarette butts outside, dog poop in the "yard" which the grass/weeds were over a foot long, internet was horrible and the oven didn't work properly.
Manager response:
We are sorry to see there were some problems that detracted from an otherwise enjoyable stay. The property manager has replaced the exterior light bulbs and re-secured the loose boards. The cigarette butts and debris have been cleaned up, and we are working with the owners on getting landscapers for the yard. The oven and internet are being inspected; we will be sure to get technicians involved for repairs if necessary. Thank you!
Adrien P. Sep 2017
We stayed 4 days here, it was great ! We came to ride TVs at Sand lake recreation area. house is close to beaches and hikes.
Katy S. Aug 2017
We enjoyed our stay. The house was comfortable for 6 adults and 2 children. The walls are thin and noise does travel easily. Great view and very close to town. The yard is very overgrown but there is a nice upper wrap around deck.
Andrew R. Aug 2017
We had 4 + a dog and had a wonderful 4 days. It's literally the most relaxing place I've ever stayed in. You can even hear the surf even though it's off the beach. Has a couple wide-screen TV's with blue-ray players and a sound system. View is amazing, from the sand mountain to the bluff to the south. Sunsets to die for. Quick access to everything in Pacific City including the famous Pelican Pub and the Twist wine bar. 2 kitchens + laundry. Only regret is that we wanted to stay longer!
Anna C. Jul 2017
The views of the ocean and sunsets from the upper level were spectacular. There were plenty of big windows as well as a wrap around deck. The staircase chair elevator was great for persons with mobility issues. The up and down kitchen areas and living spaces were good for a 2 family group. The down side is that the condition and age of the furnishings were very out-dated and dingy looking and the housekeeping was not up to par.
Ross P. Jun 2017
This was a wonderful experience. We brought the inlaws and my mom. 70, 80, and 82 yrs old. The stairlift and ADA shower upstairs we're a huge blessing that made this trip possible. Thank you Vacasa!
Loved the deer roaming around and the beautiful sunsets on the deck.
We will most certainly vacation here again.
Oh yeah, there is a journal of all past guests experience, that was precious.
Simon M. Jun 2017
Overall experience at your place was great. I would definitely stay here again.
Kaylee T. May 2017
We were so pleased with our stay here! The furnishings aren't necessarily updated, but they are comfortable. The view was great. It was so nice to see the ocean whenever we were home. We were blessed with wonderful weather and could enjoy seeing the dory boats, sunsets, and waves from our deck. Getting to the beach was easy, and I am so thankful that we chose this house over one that was closer without as nice of a view. We saw deer in the yard and walking all around every day we were there - they didn't even seem skittish at all! They would just keep eating and watch us. My aunt and grandmother were with us some, and they appreciated the chair lift up the stairs. What a wonderful place to stay!
Rawezh R. Jan 2017
This house was very beautiful with a spectacular view. My family and I had a wonderful time riding ATV's in the dunes and exploring the cape! Everyone is Pacific City was very friendly and welcoming which made our stay more memorable. We will definitely be returning when the weather clears up.
Ron R. Nov 2016
The Carousel house was a good get-away spot for our three generations of family to gather and enjoy time together over a stormy Thanksgiving weekend. With two living spaces, upstairs and downstairs, to hangout and play in, both the kids and the adults had a nice time to connect. Food prep and family meals were easy with the open arrangement of the kitchen to the upstairs living space. The view from upstairs is really spectacular, and it was neat to watch the weather come in from the ocean.
Stella Funk B. Oct 2016
We had daily down pour of rain, some wind but the sun still managed to show up here and there revealing great sunsets between 6-6:30 pm. After washing all the windows our views were greatly enhanced and cleaning all the spiders and webs from entry ways and windows things were great. Great sunsets right from the house. No need to go to the beach as view is the best. Power lines however got in the way of great photos. The deer visited the neighborhood daily and on the property. Loved the 1st floor with 2 bedrooms, kitchen, mud room, living room and the 2nd floor with 1 bedroom, kitchen and family room. Nearly like having 2 separate apartments except only one stove upstairs and one washer/dryer downstairs. Restrooms on each floor and microwaves.

A number of light bulbs were either burned out or missing. Could have used at least one more outdoor light at an entry and 5 bulbs indoors would have been nicer. I counted 7-9 bulbs out all together. The internet connection was down at the house but, working next door. It was rough without the internet trying to find things to do or eat in the area. Having prepaid phones limits ones abilities to use data.

Our dog who is a 4 breed mix Chow, Ridgeback, lab and German Shep enjoyed being outdoor on the upper wrap around circular deck, the often sightings of deer in the neighborhood and hikes on the beach. She was too excited to eat in the morning and was super mellow except for the daily deer sightings.

We did a lot of sight seeing and hiking in and around Pacific City, Sand Lake and Proposal Rock. Saw an eagle, otter, and lots of deer. (1 young buck and 4 other deer).
Manager response:
We appreciate having these items brought to our attention and will get them taken care of.
Fanny P. Sep 2016
The house was great!
Sandra M B. Aug 2016
We stayed there for 4 nights in August and it's a lot of house that accommodated 10 of us quite nicely. It's a little outdated, needed a little cleaning of yard, cupboards and walls but the view was beautiful, beds clean and comfortable and price quite competitive. We would stay there again.
Sonjia S. Aug 2016
So sad that this lovely home & yard is not being maintained!! The neighbors must be unhappy! Too many things wrong to list.
Manager response:
We apologize that this stay had some disappointments. The Property Manager would like to assure our future guests that the yard has been taken care of, and a walk through has been performed of the home enabling them to fix many outstanding issues.
Amber F. Aug 2016
This house had a lovely view of the ocean and surrounding neighborhood. Even saw a few deers around. Lovely little place to stay. The way are map instructed us to go was very potholed rocky road. Just to be prepared.
Mark M. Jul 2016
I've rented this house in the past and it's a really neat layout with a fantastic view. This year, there were some shortfalls as per cleanliness of one area and pretty much no toilet paper. That's a fluke I think though. Great house overall. I'll be back, I'll just bring extra toilet paper again;)
Russell I. Jul 2016
The house was spacious and clean. The beds were very comfy and the house had a dishwasher and washer/dryer, which was very convenient. The master bedroom on the main floor has 3/4 walls that are shared with the main living area and kitchen, so it can be noisy in the bedroom if people are up early/late.

The road up to the house is not maintained and I would recommend avoiding Elderberry Road at all costs, unless you have a high clearance vehicle. The view from the deck was spectacular and house had a very comfortable feel. I would definitely rent this property again.
Damara K. Jul 2016
The house was great for our multi family! Kids loved they could watch movies/TV while adults had their space upstairs with tv. We brought our boat, caught a bunch of crab and overall had a great weekend! Thanks again!
Tamilla S. Jun 2016
This house has an amazing view and the sunsets were perfect. That is the good to be said for this house as it needs some updating and maintenance.
Tyson S. Jun 2016
Great House, Beautiful Views, Memories Made.
Thomas H. Jun 2016
The view of the Pacific from this place was awesome!
Nick B. May 2016
The view is pretty and the kitchen was fully stocked which was great and probably the only part of this location we enjoyed. The road to reach this rental is in VERY poor condition. Overall a ok location but will not be renting again.
Christie A. Feb 2016
This location has a great view and is a great value.
Mark M. Jul 2015
Peace and quiet with an gorgeous view. Easy access to town and the beach. Perfect vacation spot. The house also has two kitchens so it's great for larger families/groups. We were only three people so we had more than enough space. I'll definitely be renting this property again!
