Quiet location. Had essential kitchen appliances and dishes. Clean and comfortable beds.
Has tv, but need instructions on how to work.
No retail within 8 miles - worked for us, but others may need to know.

We loved our trip to the herons nest! It was a great home base for spending time in quiet cape meares and visiting the lighthouse/octopus tree, waking the agate laced beaches and lunch at the schooner in Netarts. Watched a herd of Roosevelt elk from the main room for over an hour.
Megan W. Jun 2021
This is the cutest little coastal neighborhood tucked away in Tillamook Bay. We were here two nights: roasted marshmallows, saw deer and bunnies, walked to Cape Meares (lighthouse, octopus tree), strolled the beach, played in the sand, kayaked on the lake, BBQ'd dinner and ate out on the deck listening to the ocean. We had fun teaching my 5-yr old about VHS tapes which all worked great :-) This place has everything you need!
Cherri and Dave G. May 2021
Beautiful, peaceful home. Gorgeous back yard and views from each room. Close stroll to lovely quiet beach.
Helena C. Jan 2021
After our first house we stayed in didn't pan out, this one was a lovely upgrade. Though if you are trying to just watch TV—this isn't really the place as it has a small tv with not much connectivity. BUT the location is a short jaunt to the ocean, and the house is open and spacious. Lovely and bright with all the windows, it was very serene and clean.
Charlotte D. Oct 2020
The Heron's Nest is situated in a great location, just blocks from the beach, with a partial ocean view off the large front deck. The home is clean and well-stocked and very comfortable. The backyard is huge and beautiful and it was fun to watch deer pass through. Great spot, we will return.
Donald D. Sep 2020
The home was clean and cared for.
Lillian R. Aug 2020
Great location a few blocks walk from a hidden gem of a beach. House has all you need for a relaxing stay and is very clean. Next time we hope to take the canoe out on Meares Lake!
Sarah P. Dec 2019
Was very impressed with the house, included everything we needed and more for our family to enjoy our vacation. Would absolutely recommend and will be staying here again!!
Tamara H. Aug 2019
This home was beautiful as was the location. We want to come back and stay every year. It was spacious, sparkling clean, and had nice touches like mini shampoo, conditioner, soap, laundry detergent, etc. provided for us. The wall of windows gives the most spectacular view of the ocean which you can see in between the houses in front of you. The backyard backs up to the forest, where we were regularly blessed with visits from a deer family.
A couple things could make this home even better:
Have some dressers or drawer storage available in the bedrooms, there was only closet space with some hangers, so our pajamas and other small items had to stay in our bags on the floor which was kind of a pain.
Put a ceiling fan in the main living area, since the windows don't open, to give the air some movement, as it got really hot in there during the late afternoon.
The toaster was wonky and didn't work unless you held the lever on the left side down for a bit, think it's time for a new one.
These small things do not in any way impact how amazing this location is! We will be back!
Manager response:
We are so happy that you enjoyed your stay at our home! We have spoke with our local property managers and they are going to inspect the toaster and buy a knew one if needed to be sure there is one in working order for our future guests! They are also going to look into getting dressers in the home for a place to put clothes. Because this home has high ceilings the local staff feels that it may be better to just include some extra fans in the home on those hot days. Thank you so much for your feedback, we look forward to hosting you beach trip next year!
Maria N. Aug 2018
My family and I stayed here for 5 nights; would definitely recommend to others. Really liked that the living space is upstairs; offered views of the water when the fog rolled out. Walking distance to a great locals only beach. The home is well appointed and included all the amenities and resources we expected. There is a great big bin of beach toys in the garage, which my 2 year old LOVED! The little fire pit area is perfect for nightcaps and s'mores. It was an ideal location to feel unplugged, but close enough to "civilization" for daily trips to hikes, Tillamook Creamery, and other coastal towns.
Elke L. Jul 2018
Loved being at Cape Mears again, and this time in a wonderful home "Heron's Nest" with great amenities and wonderful water view. Peaceful and so relaxing.
Kathryn J. Jan 2018
This was one town on the coast we had never been to and it was a nice surprise. The beach has a rugged beauty and was not too crowded. We saw a family of deer frequently out the front window. The house was clean, comfortable and well equipped.
Maximilian S. Dec 2017
We stayed here for five days in December and had a wonderful time. The house is perfectly located, with a great fireplace (and firewood provided!), lots of board games, and good kitchen equipment. Everything was clean and well maintained. The owners clearly care about this place and the well-being of the guests. We watched a big winter storm through the windows in the living room. Five minute walk to the beach, and some great hiking trails nearby. We would definitely rent this house again.
Paul S. Oct 2017
This is a clean well appointed home. It has a view of the ocean and a nice wrap around deck. Cape Meares is within close driving to Tillamook and Garibadli for restaurant options. The beach is an easy 2-3 block walk. The beach is flat and good for walking but also has some rocky areas for exploring. We'd stay at this house again.
Cynthia M. Jun 2017
Other then stairs I would recommend .
Matt S. Jun 2017
We needed a weekend away, and brought our two kids. The house was nice and quiet, and make sure you bring a baby gate if you are a parent of small children. It's not the owners responsibility, but parents should always be prepared. Overall, nice house with good amenities and nice view.
Jennifer C. May 2017
Had a great time. Very homey. Would definitely stay again!
Elizabeth S. Apr 2017
We loved the balance of the secluded feel of Cape Meares with the ease of access to so many little adventures along the coast. The owners and previous renters have added information to a few notebooks full of information and ideas of things to see and do.

This home is well situated, and includes everything needed for a relaxing and enjoyable time away.
Danielle B. Dec 2016
Had a wonderful time. Very peaceful. wonderful coastal area to visit
Diana N. Dec 2016
Great house, good layout, comfortably furnished, comfortable bed, family friendly with games, books, beach toys, nautical collections, views from every window, well equipped kitchen, garage for leaving wet shoes and coats. Perfect home for a family vacation, even in a week filled with lots of rain and wind.
Cait L. Nov 2016
This is a special house for our family. We've celebrated anniversaries and birthdays here and love Cape Meares for its solitude and peace.
. Nov 2016
Comfy place. Friendly neighbor who helped us locate the lock box which was hard to find in the dark. Nice furnishings. Nice windows. Elk and deer visited the back yard. Great view from the backyard down to the lake. A bit like a Bierstadt painting.
Ray Y. Oct 2016
Very well appointed kitchen for a rental. The only thing we couldn't find was the advertised coffee grinder, and a pastry brush. Very spacious living/dining/kitchen space, layout of the house and deck made it easy to de-sand and dry our 2 small dogs before bringing them inside. 2-block walk to the ocean. Woke one morning to find a herd of 10 elk in the backyard. The dogs were flabbergasted!
GEORGE S. Aug 2016
Very quiet residential neighborhood and not high density. ocean beach VERY close. perfect for a small family or 2 couples or less. The owner has provided a number of amenities like a canoe for the walk to lake. Close enough to town to get there and far enough away to not be there. All in all a nice rental.
Larry D. Aug 2016
What a relaxing setting. Cell phone reception was non-existent, but it sure made for a quiet retreat - which was lovely. Wish we could have stayed longer.
Sasha K. Aug 2016
This was a great guest house that was really clean and had really close beach access. We would walk down to the beach every morning and then several times a day after that! It was only about a 5 minute easy walk. Tillamook is very close by (Maybe 10-15 min drive) for groceries, restaurants and etc, which was good because there are really no amenities in Cape Mears. Rockaway Beach was only about a 30-35 minute drive south, which is a little more touristy with a few candy shops and other little shops and a nice beach which was fun. Overall a very good experience. If you like secluded like we do, this is a perfect spot! Some mornings there were only about 10 other people on the beach..if that. Very quiet place to relax.
Paul S. Jul 2016
Great house, close to the beach, in a very nice quiet neighborhood. The house is approximately 15 minutes to Tillamook, for all of your grocery needs. I would definitely stay here again.

We have been to the Oregon coast many times, but never Cape Meares. It was very peaceful and we enjoyed the gorgeous ocean view and beach.
Pam Z. Jun 2016
We stayed a week in Cape Meares Oregon. The house we rented was beautiful. You could see the ocean from the balcony and hear the ocean out your window, You also can see deer in your back yard. The house was equipped with everything from barbequer to canoes, crab gear and you are able to park in the garage which is nice. The ocean is in walking distance. The house is pet friendly which was also so wonderful. We had a great time and plan going again.
Elizabeth And Mel F. Apr 2016
I had never been to Cape Meares before nor had we ever rented a house. Both of these experiences were great! The house was comfortable, beds were great! The kitchen was nice and stocked very appropriatly. I slept with the window open with no worry and it was so nice and quiet. Community is very nice!!
We would stay again! Thank you for a great first time home rental experience!!
Sheri W. Mar 2016
This is a nice beach house and well maintained property. 2 full bathrooms plus laundry facilities. It's a good getaway for a quiet time with family or friends with no intrusion from the outside world. Short drive to Tillamook , Netarts and Oceanside.
Katrina V. Mar 2016
This house was just what we needed. It is off the beaten path and isolated from any services, including only one bar of cell service, which was perfect! We loved the location of the house, 3 blocks off the beach and within earshot of the waves at night. The house was a great size for us (2 people) and would be fine for another couple or a family. The kitchen is well stocked with most things that you need but don't forget your oil to cook with :) The bathrooms were very clean and had all the amenities that we needed. The only issue we had was that the bed upstairs was really soft so we slept downstairs. Overall, the house is cozy and just as pictured.
Grant S. Sep 2015
This place was great. The distance from the beach, seclusion afforded by the drive out from the main bay, and the cleanliness/equipment provided in the house made this a wonderful trip.

Wifi worked well, but if you are streaming, I would recommend an ethernet cable. Also, it should be mentioned that this property has a blue ray player, not just a dvd player. (We brought our own, so did not get to use the stocked equipment, but it appeared to be fine)

Other than the beautiful beach, there isn't much in walking distance. The towns of Netarts and Oceanside don't have much to offer, but the drive to Tillamook is short and ripe with activity options.

If you are looking for great seafood/chowder, drive a bit north of Tillamook to Bay City and look for Pacific Oyster on a pier to the left of Highway 101.

Would definitely stay here again.
Dustin S. Aug 2015
This is a great vacation spot. The house is clean and well enough stocked for a long getaway vacation. The beach is almost 4 miles of sand (especially at low tide) with very people to share it with--even during the peak season. The Heron's Nest is a hidden gem.
Wade W. May 2015
Very nice rental and we love Cape Meares. Was our first time in this particular house but we've been coming to Cape Meares for years. The house is super clean and the kitchen is very well supplied -- the best of all the rentals we've tried. Very comfortable. Our only disappointment was that there was hardly any hot water for showers, even though we turned the hot water heater on at the fuse box the evening we arrived. Not sure if it has to be on for several days in order to heat up a good supply of water. Please consider turning the hot water on well before guests arrive.
Manager response:
We will inspect the water heater promptly. We are delighted to see that you enjoyed the home so much and hope to see you again. Thank you for choosing Vacasa!
Lana A. May 2015
A beautiful home with stained glass and driftwood handrail. Cooking is a delight in the kitchen. The mountain view inspires.
James G. Mar 2015
Our stay was excellent! With 3 children we did not run out of things to do! The kids forgot about the internet! I made a successful proposal to my fiance on our stay and we truly enjoyed ourselves. This beach trumps other vacation spots for combing, views, and activities!
However, be wary of the clams at Roseanna's
Cafe. It was the only Restaurant we stopped at and it cost me an entire nights rest.
Craig & Anne B. Oct 2014
A clean, modern, comfortable, quiet place to stay, with some beach view from the deck. Easy access to beach, Cape Meares Lake, and Tillamook. Very sketchy cell phone reception - a good reason to practice going without that device on so much. In an emergency you can find a nearby spot with reception.
Philippe L. Aug 2014
The house is wonderful with beautiful views. Easy access to the beach. The backyard was great for evening fires and the outdoor furniture made it easy to enjoy the gorgeous sunsets from the wraparound deck.
Irene A. Aug 2014
Our family that incudes my husband and me, a teen and 2 preteens stayed here for 2 nights. We were very sattisfied with the location of the house, that is just a short walk away from the beach, as well as the house itself. It was very clean and nicely decorated, the kitchen has all the equipment one can think of and there was plenty of space for all of us. The stove in the living room is for decorative purposes only, but we did not miss it at all since we have been blessed with perfect weather and had a fire on the beach instead. So once we overcame the shock of not having an internet connection ( we somehow missed that in the description) we had a perfect time at the coast and would certainly come again.
Manager response:
Thank you for your 5 star review. This lovely home is perfect for a family get away. It is comfortable and well stocked. Currently the home is not set up with internet, which could be an issue for some. We see it as a perfect opportunity to unplug and share time with your family. '
Mark D. Jul 2014
Had a great time on a wonderfully quiet beach, yet a close drive to Tillamook.
JOANN R. Jul 2014
We stayed two days at the house on Cape Meares and it was truely a once in a lifetime magical time. I've never experienced anything so beautiful and remote. It was wonderful to be there in a beautiful house with an amazing view, so totally quiet except for the ocean and the birds. So dark at night you can see all the stars. We saw plenty of wildlife as well in the woods and on the beach. So relaxing!
Manager response:
This is great feedback! We're so glad that your experience with us was such a positive one and that you were able to have a great time enjoying all that the home offers.
Ronald W. Jun 2014
What a quiet wonderful place to unwind and reconnect from our busy schedules. Warning: minimal cell service, no restaurants, gas stations or convenience stores in the village, only peace and quiet, sea shells, sand dollars, the sound of the surf and of course the constant cool breeze off the ocean. Even found a giant starfish (yes, we threw him back just so you can find him on your trip). The few miles back to Tillamook for groceries changes depending upon the tide, to a view over mud-flats or a wide stretch of water. The house was perfect for the four of us.
Zabrea F. Sep 2013
My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at the Herons Nest. Very comfortable and warm. I couldn't believe how quiet and relaxing it was. We will definitely come again with our children. Thank you for sharing your home with us!! Fiscus'
Steven D. Aug 2013
The house was just what we hoped for, every elegant, clean and a home away from home.
Robert D. Aug 2013
Our family chose this particular home and the Cape Meares area for a certain reason..and we got exactly what we wanted! Completely relaxing, peaceful, enjoyable and the best vacation ever. It was very refreshing to leave the world of technology behind and just soak up the fantastic atmosphere that this home and Cape Meares has to offer...even our "kids" (21, 17 & 14) agreed! On a daily basis we went for walks around the community, spent hours at the beach having adventures and finished it off with nights of movies and popcorn! Some of our favorite moments were the two perfect sunsets that we were able to savor during our 7-day stay and then on the last night we had an incredible bonfire on the beach. Don't miss out on the fort building on the beach or the great wildlife that you see constantly. There was a sweet doe and her fawn that would visit each morning along with some chipmunks. Cape Meares is now our new favorite place to visit. We already are planning to definitely be back next year to stay at this home to enjoy another week of relaxation. Thank you for sharing your home with us!
Susan C. Jul 2013
Great location. Home well stocked. Would like to have been able to watch the news.
Unable to figure out how to use shower in the basement area. We could only get cold water out of the shower head. Carpeting had stains around the fireplace. But, so close to all the activities at our family reunion. The community center a real plus for all the meals. Thank You
Sanjeev T. Jul 2013
Quite beautiful location -- perfect for a get-away from it all. Well furnished, including cookware, plates/bowls/utensils. We also appreciated the entertainment options incl. blu-ray player, an iPod and CD player, magazines, books, and some movies. Thank You!
Danielle T. Jun 2013
We choose this home for it's less traveled location and backyard. It was cozy, well-stocked, and lovely.
Mary L. Jun 2013
Loved the home, very clean and decorated tastefully. One thing I might suggest is having a griddle available for making pancakes on. There was a few chips in ceramic table wear which did not bother me but I was concerned that my group might be held responsible for the damage. I very much appreciated the 2 note books with instructions, recommendations and local information for sightseeing brochures. Very helpful.
Manager response:
Thank you for your review! We are glad you had a great time and we appreciate your feedback!
Diana G. Jun 2013
My husband and I went to the coast for our honeymoon and we could not have been happier with our choice to rent a house on the coast! We had a very relaxing couple of days and loved venturing into Tillamook during the day to try different restaurants and do "touristy" things. We especially loved the easy access to the beach and went for a long run along the ocean one of our mornings there. I couldn't imagine a more serene place to rest up after the non-stop action during the days leading up to our wedding. :)
Manager response:
Congratulation on your marriage! We wish you many happy years together and we hope you will keep us in mind for your first anniversary!
Michael C. Mar 2013
Some times we just need to slow down to appreciate life. This was one of those times and Heron's Nest was the perfect place for doing so. When we walked in we felt like we were at home. The home was quiet, cozy, had every thing we needed to enjoy out time there. Cape Mears is our kind of place, very laid back. We played games, walked on the beach, caught clams at Netarts bay, and read books. Just what we needed to come back home refreshed.
Danny Jude A. Jan 2013
What a beautiful mini vacation we had at this wonderous beach house! I cant even imagine anything that could have made it better. All the comments we read were all true. Thank you to the wonderful folks that rent their house out ,and to the helpful folks that run the Vacasa!!
Manager response:
We're glad you enjoyed your stay, and hope to have you back soon!
susan k. Nov 2012
The open floor plan, view and easy beach access at the Heron's nest provided us an enjoyable retreat for spending Thanksgiving with our family.
Joyce H. Nov 2012
This was our first experience with Vacasa rentals and it was a home run!!! The Heron's Nest home was not only impeccably clean, the furnishings were comfortable yet stylish. We loved the games, and how well the house was stocked with just about anything you would want. We DEFINITELY will be staying here again! I highly recommend it. The only con I could say was not having even local channels on the TV and no internet. But then again maybe not having that is what made it a vacation! Thank you so very much for a wonderful weekend!
Jill S. Sep 2012
The house is very well stocked with everything you need in the kitchen. It has beautiful sunset views and views over the ocean. very easy to walk to beach. lovely place.
Sarah S. Sep 2012
We chose this property for a few reasons. The price, location, fireplace, and number of beds. Everything lived up to our expectations. The fireplace was wonderful. The beds were very soft. Everything was clean and well stocked. We brought all our own food, and didn't leave Cape Meares once.
Shantel T. Aug 2012
Just like pictures showed - very well supplied and comfy house - we enjoyed staying here close to the beach! We would love to stay here again, the kids loved it too! No TV or Internet access though.
Cheryl C. Jul 2012
One little comment--we couldn't get the lock box to work until we discovered that there were 2 lock boxes. Make sure to use the one on the north side of the house
Stacey I. Jul 2012
The house was wonderful and cozy. You felt right at home and comfortable the minute you walked in the doors. The beds and couches were super comfortable. Lots of snuggly blankets for cool evenings and sleeping with the windows open so you can to hear the ocean. The beach was a short walk and it was so quiet and relaxing. There were 5 of us and we all fit just fine. There was no TV but we were able to rent DVD's at Safeway and RedBox in Tillamook. The kitchen was well stocked with plenty of dishes but could of used a larger frying pan and the BBQ was small for trying to BBQ steaks for 6 but we made due. It was a Perfect Vacation. I hope to return in the fall and re-book for next July. Thank you for providing such a wonderful relaxing and cozy home.
Michelle T. May 2012
The small town of Cape Meares was a beautiful backdrop for our family vacation on the Oregon Coast. The house was perfect for our small brood (2 small children) and the house had pretty much everything we could have needed or wanted. It's a short walk or bike ride to the beach which was mostly secluded. The option to use the canoe on the nearby lake was also a bonus. The house is very well taken care of and we truly enjoyed our stay.
Huy L. May 2012
It was a really nice, cozy beach house for a perfect get away. The house was very well equipped, organized and I couldn't ask for more. The beach was close enough for you to see, smell, and hear the magnificence from the ocean from the beach house. I would highly recommend!
Jim K. Apr 2012
It was a beautiful place to sit and relax. The elk were an added bonus. The Heron's Nest was comfortable and quiet. I am so glad that we stayed there. It was perfect for a family of five.
Chris W. Feb 2012
We loved our stay at the Heron's Nest in Cape Meares. The house was perfect for the 5 of us with everything we needed. It was very clean and beautifully decorated. We enjoyed the fireplace and walks on the beach in this quiet community. The kitchen was well-equipped. We'd love to come back!

We were impressed with the number of games, crafts, and outdoor toys provided for entertaining children. Our three daughters had the best time playing. We never ran out of things to do. The short walk to the beach was perfect. We also appreciated the binder full of information about local attractions. We went to the lighthouse, the octopus tree, Brewin' In the Wind, the Tillamook Air Museum, and Munson Creek Falls all based on the recommendations in the book. What a fun time! Thank you!
Katie B. Jan 2012
Heron's nest is a well equipped and clean home perfect for a family vacation. The beach is a short walk down hill. There are canoe's available for use in Lake Meares and a fire pit in the back room The kitchen has everything you might need and is spotless. The kitchen/family room space is perfect for hanging out and playing game. We would certainly return.
Jen W. Nov 2011
Even though we had storms and almost non-stop rain, it didn't ruin our stay, because the house was so comfy and relaxing. Thank you.
Kim L. Oct 2011
I enjoyed a splendid weekend at this comfortable home with friends recently. Lots of room for us (6 adults) to spread out, relax, read, dance, cook (great setup for prepping) and hang out at the fire pit out back gazing at the amazing stars. The beach was an easy stroll a few blocks away to body surf and hike up or down to the light house. Quiet neighborhood that was beckons me to return. A 5 star vacation site!! Kim L.
Jean D. Oct 2011
We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves at this beach house, located just a quick walk from the great tide pools and hidden treasures beach of Cape Mears. (Every day the tide brought surprises.) The open floor plan with windows providing expansive view of the ocean worked well for our large group. We prepared meals in the fully and well equipped kitchen and grill on the deck wrapping around the house. In the back yard, protected from the wind, we could enjoy marshmellows roasted in the fire pit. Everything was clean and well cared for. We can't wait to go back!
Richard H. Oct 2010
Enjoyed our stay. Open, sunny, close to the beach with beach view. House comfortable and welcoming. Firepit good gathering place for after dark. Long beach great for walks. Tide pools. Even had a visit by an elk. Will come back again. A 5 star experience.
