The neighborhood:
South Kihei is made for a vacation that happens mostly on foot. Kamaole Beach Parks I and II are just across the road, with sandy swimming spots, snorkeling opportunities, and sunset views toward the outer islands. Restaurants, rental shops, and Coconuts Plaza are close enough to make an unplanned lunch or shave ice run easy. Continue south for Keawakapu Beach's longer sweep of sand. This part of Maui feels sunny, casual, and convenient for couples and families who want their beach, groceries, and dinner choices nearby.

Getting around:
Kahului Airport is about 20 to 30 minutes away, an easy drive down Maui's sunny south shore. A rental car is recommended to make the most of Kihei's many beaches, shops, and restaurants spread along the coast. Some stretches near South Kihei Road are walkable to dining and shopping, while beaches are often just minutes away. Parking is typically available on site, in lots, or along nearby streets.
