Light the wood stove, put a record on, and watch the redwoods fade into the evening — this 3,500 sq ft Sebastopol hilltop home was made for the slow months, when the fun moves indoors and the spa steams under the trees.

The great room is where cozy season happens: sofas grouped around the wood-burning fireplace (operating instructions posted right there), a turntable and record collection for whoever picks the soundtrack, and puzzles plus board games stacked for every age. A second, gas fireplace warms the dining room — switch it on at its back right side — so the whole main floor glows on a rainy night. Stream a movie, spin a record, or start a living-room game night; guests are welcome to use either fireplace.

Cook, snack, and feast without leaving — the chef's kitchen comes loaded with an espresso machine, KitchenAid mixer, electric fondue set, popcorn popper, hand-turned pasta machine, panini press, and waffle maker, plus pantry staples ready when you arrive. Seat up to 16 around the indoor dining table for Thanksgiving, holiday, or Sunday-supper-sized dinners, then carry dessert to the sofas by the fire.

Rainy afternoon? Kids sprint to the game room for foosball, ping-pong, basketball, cornhole, giant Jenga, or a craft-table project, then pile into the upstairs den with beanbags and a big TV. One adult can slip off to the laptop-friendly desk with dual monitors and fast Wi-Fi while everyone else plays.

OUTDOOR LIVING
The private spa is heated year-round at no charge — soak as the redwoods catch the last light, then dry off by the fire bowl with Adirondack chairs and string lights overhead. A patio heater keeps the wraparound deck comfortable past sunset, and the covered porch is the spot for morning coffee or an evening with the telescope and binoculars — hilltop skies here get properly dark. Multiple terraces, a gas barbecue, and hammocks strung between the trees round out the grounds, and the fully enclosed yard gives kids and up to four dogs a safe place to run. The 20×40 pool waits for spring (heating available April–October).

Nestled in Sebastopol's peaceful hills, you're surrounded by redwood forests and just 0.7 miles from Marimar Estate Vineyards — harvest and crush season (September–October) is the liveliest time to taste, and winter tasting rooms are quieter and more personal. Square Peg Winery (1.5 mi), Freeman Vineyard (1.9 mi), and Iron Horse Vineyards (2.3 mi, hilltop tastings) are all close. The Barlow marketplace (2.3 mi) — tasting rooms, breweries, and restaurants — is the easy answer for a rainy-day outing and lights up for the holidays. Fall brings apple stands and pumpkin patches along the west county backroads; winter brings big-tree walks at Armstrong Redwoods and storm watching at Bodega Bay, each about 25 minutes away. For dining, The Altamont General Store (2.3 mi) serves breakfast and lunch, Howard Station Cafe (2.3 mi) is a local favorite, and Willow Wood Market Cafe (2.5 mi) provides farm-fresh meals. Stock up on groceries at Bohemian Market (2.3 mi) or grab tacos at El Mariachi Cafe (2.3 mi). Your dogs will love Ragle Ranch Dog Park (3.8 mi), and West County Regional Trail (3.5 mi) is good for walking and biking between storms.

Both fireplaces are yours to use: operating instructions for the wood-burning fireplace are posted in the main living room, and the gas fireplace in the dining room switches on at its back right side. The spa is heated year-round at no charge. The pool is unheated November through March; pool heating is available April–October only, must be requested at least 2 days in advance ($150 per calendar day), and may not be set above 92 degrees — by reserving this home you agree to that limit, or you may be charged an additional fee. This hilltop home stays naturally cool in the redwood canopy, with heating for chilly nights and limited air conditioning on warmer days. The primary renter must be 25 or older. Up to four dogs (80 lbs each max) are welcome in the enclosed yard — please keep them leashed on nearby trails. Gathering space comfortably seats 16 for meals; overnight occupancy is capped at 8 per permit.

The home shares a well system with nearby neighbors — common in this area. From time to time, our water vendor may visit the property for routine pump maintenance. These stops are quick and do not require access inside the home; the vendor will not interrupt your stay.
