From digging your toes into white sand to zip lining through the tropical forests, it's no wonder Playa Flamingo is one of Costa Rica's most popular destinations for locals and tourists alike. Plus, this beautiful crescent-shaped cove is relatively under-developed, giving the feeling of a cozy beach town, while still offering a wide array of activities and excursions close by. Make sure your experience in Playa Flamingo is incredible by choosing to stay in one of our lovely vacation rentals.

Set on the northwest side of jungle-filled Costa Rica, this small beach city is just 26 miles from the Liberia Airport and 170 miles from the capital of San José. Leave the chaos of the big city behind and surround yourself with relaxation in paradise. And when you want more, day trips to places like Tamarindo (14 miles away), the beaches in Jacó (155 miles south), and Playa Hermosa (18 miles north) are great for more adventure.
Although this area of Costa Rica is a little sparse on the thick forests that cover most of the country, you won't even miss it with the fantastic variety of water activities available. If you enjoy fishing, this is the place to be as Playa Flamingo is known for being one of the best deep sea fishing spots. Catch massive marlin, tasty tuna, sailfish, swordfish, and even snapper with the seasoned crew aboard either The Sea Warrior, The Cove Hunter, or Poseidon's Nemesis.
Other ocean adventures include snorkeling and scuba diving to see exotic marine life, dolphin and whale watching (maybe even from the balcony of a Playa Flamingo vacation rental!), swimming, and simply building sand castles on the beach. With generally small waves inside the cove, even little ones might take a nice swim in the ocean. If any surfers in your group are searching for bigger waves, they can find some wonderful surf spots just north in Santa Rosa National Park.
Once your sea legs are worn out, spend some time ashore exploring the natural flora and fauna. One of the best ways to see it all is to bundle tours together for a full day of fun. Choose from activities like horseback riding, ATVing, hiking, zip lining, tubing, white water rafting, canopy tours, and much more through a local tour company. Golfers can reserve a tee time at the spectacular Garra de Leon or Hacienda Pinilla Golf Courses, while others in the group unwind at the Onzen Spa.
Although our Playa Flamingo vacation rentals typically include a full kitchen for easy meals, there are ample restaurants within walking distance you must try! Coco Loco is easily the most unique and loved establishment, with dining right on the beach and a mouth-watering menu including churrasco, blackened swordfish, and loco coco, which is an amazing blend of rice, mussels, shrimp, octopus, and more. Tubla Restaurant offers delicious pizza, The Beach House has an unforgettable burger, and Soda Y Restaurante El Estero Azul is the perfect place for local cuisine with a front-row view of the ocean.
Family-friendly and brimming with excitement, Playa Flamingo will surpass your wildest vacation dreams! Stay in one of our lovely vacation rentals to get the most out of your adventure to Costa Rica.
