Recent West Yellowstone vacation rental reviews

We loved staying at this wonderful cabin on Lake Hebgen. We really enjoyed how remote the cabin was, as we were hoping to get some wildlife exposure outside of Yellowstone and this location did not disappoint. Our first night we walked down to the water to check out the wildlife there and saw something unusual out in the water. We watched it for a bit trying to figure out what it was and it started coming right towards us, it was a grizzly bear!!! We ran back to the cabin and about 15 min. later, watched the young grizzly walk right past the cabin! Nightly we saw elk, bison and coyotes as we drove to the cabin from the main road. Yellowstone is very easy access with lots of great restaurants in town to choose from. We drove around to Big Sky as well as Earthquake Lake. So much to do in the area that it kept us and our two college age kids entertained the whole time. We made some great lifetime memories here.

The house was great. Comfortable beds, plenty of seats, large dining table, and close to YS west entrance. The heater was off and no firewood in the house. Documentation about these items would have been helpful.

Where is West Yellowstone?

While Yellowstone (the park) is in Wyoming, West Yellowstone is its own Montana town near the state border. Visitors can access the park year-round through West Yellowstone, leading many to book West Yellowstone cabins in the winter. The town of Big Sky is about 50 miles north, and the state line is just 3 miles east.

Things to do in West Yellowstone

When you’re not exploring the national park, visit the Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center for an up-close look at some of America’s most beloved wild inhabitants. Summer guests can grab a line and a pole and try fishing in Hebgen Lake and Madison River, both trout hotspots. West Yellowstone is known as a snowmobiling hub in the winter, so grab your warmest coat and book a tour. You can always warm up back at your cabin later.

Seeing Yellowstone is a once-in-a-lifetime thrill, and a West Yellowstone vacation rental makes it all possible. There’s a place for you here in the mountains, no matter the season.
