Recent Crosby vacation rental reviews

This space was so perfect for our Large Extended Family of 16! We fit perfectly, and everyone had a cozy space to sleep. It's pretty rare to find such a magical little spot to fit all of us. The Lake views were picturesque, and the proximity to a Grocery Store and the nearby town (Crosslake) was never more than 10 minutes! It is also close enough to head over and explore the cute Lake Town of Nisswa for events or just a day of shopping. Of course, the Lodge (games and rec area) was a huge hit with both the kids and the adults! So much fun. Renting this property was likely renting your own private resort, highly recommended!

Had a great time staying at this cute, cozy house! Had everything we needed and close to downtown and trails. Comfy beds and nice spot to hang out.

We had to book a rental last-minute since our usual cabin was under maintenance, and after an unexpected cancellation, this was literally the last place available in Crosby. We couldn’t have lucked out more. The house was clean, quiet, and had plenty of space both indoors and out for relaxing and hanging out. It’s close to everything, and we even got to enjoy the fireworks from the back deck which was a real bonus! All the amenities we needed were there, and when a smoke detector battery started beeping in a locked room, the local host responded quickly and was incredibly friendly while fixing it. Highly recommend this quaint getaway if you're planning a trip to Crosby.

Plan your Crosby getaway

Crosby brings Cuyuna’s red-dirt trails, clear mine lakes, and small-town dining into one active Minnesota getaway. Crosby vacation rentals work well for mountain bikers, families, couples, and groups who want a practical home base near Cuyuna Country State Recreation Area, the Cuyuna Lakes Mountain Bike Trails, Serpent Lake, and the Soo Line Depot Museum.

As you compare homes, think about how your group plans to spend the trip: trail mornings, lake afternoons, easy downtown meals, or a mix of all three. Each home is unique, so review listing details for parking, bike storage, kitchens, pet policies, WiFi, laundry, outdoor space, and seasonal access notes before you book.

Things to do in Crosby

Looking for things to do in Crosby, MN? Start with the Cuyuna Lakes area’s mountain biking and mine-lake recreation, then add Serpent Lake and a local history stop to understand what makes Crosby different from a typical lake town.

Cuyuna Country State Recreation Area

Cuyuna Country State Recreation Area is the area’s defining outdoor anchor, with former mining pits, clear mine lakes, wooded trails, and rugged lake-country scenery. It ties together many of the reasons travelers choose Crosby, from biking and paddling to swimming, hiking, and exploring the Cuyuna mining landscape.

Best for:

Cuyuna Lakes Mountain Bike Trails

The Cuyuna Lakes Mountain Bike Trails are known for red-dirt singletrack, lake overlooks, and routes that range from approachable rides to more technical terrain. The trail system also shapes the town’s visitor rhythm, with gear stops, after-ride meals, and downtown breaks fitting naturally around time on the trails.

Best for:

Serpent Lake

Serpent Lake gives Crosby an easy in-town freshwater counterpoint to the Cuyuna trail system. It works well for families and mixed-interest groups when some travelers want lake time while others are focused on biking, exploring town, or planning a slower afternoon.

Best for:

Soo Line Depot Museum

The Soo Line Depot Museum is located in Crosby’s former Soo Line Depot and connects today’s Cuyuna recreation scene to the area’s iron-mining and railroad past. It’s a useful rainy-day or slower-paced stop before or after exploring the mine lakes.

Where to eat in Crosby

Crosby’s dining scene is centered around its compact downtown cluster, which is especially useful for bikers, lake travelers, and weekend groups. Expect casual taverns, pizza, noodles, coffee, and easy after-ride meals close to the Cuyuna trail and lake-trip base.

If meals are part of your trip planning, consider whether you want a rental close to downtown or a home with a kitchen for relaxed breakfasts, packed trail snacks, and low-key dinners. Features vary by home, so check each listing for kitchen setup, dining space, outdoor seating, and parking details.

Trailside Tavern

Trailside Tavern is a downtown Crosby tavern with a casual, group-friendly feel that fits naturally after a day on the Cuyuna trails or around Serpent Lake. It’s an easy dinner or drinks stop when you want to stay close to Crosby’s core instead of driving farther into the Brainerd Lakes area.

Drunken Noodle

Drunken Noodle adds a casual noodle-focused option to Crosby’s downtown dining mix. It works well for couples, families, or biking groups who want something different from classic tavern food or pizza.

Crosby local tips

Day trips from Crosby

Crosby makes a practical base for exploring the wider Cuyuna and Brainerd Lakes region, but nearby attractions are best planned as separate outings. Use these ideas when you want a change of pace from the core trail, lake, and downtown Crosby experience.

Paul Bunyan Land

Paul Bunyan Land is a Brainerd-area family attraction built around the region’s Paul Bunyan folklore, with amusement-park energy that feels different from Crosby’s trail-and-lake core. It’s a useful day trip for families with kids who want a break from biking or lake recreation.

Paul Bunyan State Trail

The Paul Bunyan State Trail is a long regional trail corridor through central Minnesota lake country. Plan it as a paved ride or walk option when your group wants a different trail style from the Cuyuna singletrack network.

Rice Lake National Wildlife Refuge

Rice Lake National Wildlife Refuge sits east of Crosby, with wetlands, lakes, and wildlife viewing that create a quieter nature outing. It’s a good fit for birders, photographers, and travelers who want a low-key scenic day away from the busier Cuyuna recreation areas.

Father Hennepin State Park

Father Hennepin State Park is a Mille Lacs Lake outing that gives Crosby travelers access to a larger shoreline setting and a different lake-country landscape. Choose it when you want a state-park day that feels separate from the Cuyuna mine lakes.
