When we realized we wouldn’t be able to get to our Canadian lake house due to border closures we started looking for another option for our large family (6 adults, 6 kids). This was the PERFECT find! The pictures don’t do this place justice.
We brought our own boat and jet ski, but they have them available for rent. We spent most of our day by the dock where there is a perfect beach for swimming and launching kayaks/paddle boards (both available). Crystal clear water and pretty shallow all the way around the island which makes for great wading and shell finding.
We spent some of our evenings by the fire pit on the opposite side of the island. Large clearing and another beach like area for kids to play in the water. Also a well-cared-for path through the woods around the base of the island.
The rest of our time was spent in the gigantic screened porch. Despite there being no AC and temps in the upper 80s, never once felt hot in this old house. We brought all of our food and cooked every meal. Huge refrigerator and really nice grill.
4 Rooms with beds. We brought air mattresses for some of the kids. Plenty of room to spread out.
If I had to pick something to call a negative it would be the bathroom situation. One main bathroom in house, but only access is through bedrooms and old doors don’t really close. Another shower stall off of Kitchen and a very small room with a toilet accessed from outside. None of this would be a problem with 6 or less people in the house but with 12 it required more flexibility.
No TV, no WiFi - The way a family vacation should be. However cell service for both ATT and Verizon were sufficient.
The couple that owns it was very accommodating and welcoming showing us around the island and the lake.
We look forward to booking this again soon!
