We absolutely loved our stay here. We traveled with four adults and three kids (between the ages of 3 and 8) and truly felt like there was something for everyone. From the provided fishing poles and kayaks, to nights in the hot tub or around the fire pit, each space seemed to be designed with intentionality, and with families and relaxation in mind. The indoor spaces offered just enough amenities and space to truly make it feel like a home away from home. Multiple spacious living areas made it very comfortable.
The lake itself was serene and clean. A quiet peaceful space to reflect and enjoy nature, and the absolute perfect view to wake up to in the morning.
We also enjoyed meeting the host, Geraldine, and hearing about the history of the lake. We accidentally locked the basement door and couldn’t get downstairs. She responded to texts quickly and came over within a couple hours. She was so kind and friendly, had all the qualities you’d look for in an excellent hostess. You could really tell she cares about the guest experience.
The town of Portage itself wasn’t much, but this was the perfect place to stay- an hour drive (or less depending on traffic) to the city, a half an hour across the border to Michigan and adorable little beach towns, and a quick ten min drive to the gorgeous beaches of Indiana Dunes National Park… if you can pull yourself away from the serenity of lake life long enough to explore elsewhere that is ;)
Our entire crew would be quick to recommend this space to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway, with tons of adventure within arms reach for those who want to stay busy as well! It was a beautiful balance of both!
