OVERVIEW
Spectacular mountain cabin with great views, deck, & fireplace - dogs OK
Escape to a quintessential mountain cabin surrounded by mountains, wilderness, and the San Juan National Forest. Located 22 miles north of Durango and just five miles south of Purgatory Resort, this secluded retreat offers a peaceful setting for enjoying hiking, mountain biking, fly fishing, horseback riding, skiing, and other outdoor adventures throughout the year.
Spend quiet mornings outside on the spacious deck with a cup of coffee in hand. Settle into one of the Adirondack chairs and take in the breathtaking mountain views, then fire up the gas grill in the evening and enjoy an alfresco dinner at the picnic table. The primary bedroom upstairs has a private mountain-view deck, providing an additional place to enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
Inside, floor-to-ceiling windows bring the surrounding scenery into the cabin, while historic photos and artifacts add character to the full-scribe cabin walls. Hardwood floors run throughout the home, and a soaring wood-burning fireplace creates a warm gathering place on cooler evenings, with firewood thoughtfully provided.
The full kitchen combines rustic character with modern convenience. An antique wood stove has been refurbished for use as an electric cooktop, while an electric oven is built into the kitchen island. Plenty of counter space makes it easy to prepare meals, and the window-front dining table gives you a scenic place to enjoy them together.
After a day exploring the mountains, settle onto the leather sofa and relax with a movie, upload your day's photos, or listen to music on the stereo. The cabin's comfortable living space provides an inviting place to slow down and enjoy time together.
Three bedrooms offer comfortable sleeping spaces, with two bedrooms on the main floor and a third upstairs. A sleeping loft provides an additional space that's especially appealing for younger guests.
During winter, Purgatory Resort is just five miles north, making it easy to spend the day skiing and snowboarding before returning to the peaceful setting of your mountain cabin. In warmer months, explore nearby trails, go fly fishing or horseback riding, or simply spend the day enjoying the scenery from the deck.
With its secluded setting, mountain views, historic character, spacious outdoor areas, unique kitchen, wood-burning fireplace, and convenient location between Durango and Purgatory, this cabin offers a memorable home base for experiencing the San Juan Mountains in every season.
