Clean and beautifully located. Looking fwd to staying here again.
Brian E. Aug 2021
The wrap-around balcony was amazing - great place to relax and take in the fantastic views of the tall trees and mountains around us.
Chandan J. Jul 2021
It gets very hot in summer, so extra fans are required since no other way to cool. I appreciate owners arranging couple of fans when requested at such short notice. Kids had great time as well.

Great stay!
Adrian S. Mar 2021
Very cozy, close to hiking trails and downtown. Pack Light if possible there are few flights of stairs to main floor and kitchen. Some items need to be updated indoors however we had wonderful relaxing week and would make the trip again. =)
James B. Dec 2020
Do not plan to bring your dogs upstairs to the living room, kitchen and outdoor deck area unless you can carry them. The spiral staircase is definitely a no-go for dogs.
Manager response:
Thank you for staying with us! We are sorry the stairs were not well-suited to your four-legged friend. Each home comes with up-to-date pictures, amenities listings, and a virtual tour so guests can choose the home that is right for them. We hope you had an otherwise enjoyable stay and we look forward to hosting you again!
Kelly V. Aug 2020
The perfect place to unplug, kick back on the full wrap-around deck in the trees, within walking distance to scenic trailheads.
Joseph N. Jul 2020
This property was amazing! Our family and I had so much fun here. There's plenty of space for a family of 4. The kitchen is great as well as the deck. The living room is so cozy and we can't wait to book it again. Completely satisfied.
Stephanie C. Jun 2020
This is a beautiful well appointed cabin with gorgeous views and perfect location. We had a wonderful time.
Nathan H. Jun 2020
Location and size of this house was perfect for our 4 person quarantine getaway! You are a short walk away from a beautiful creek and hiking trail, and we constantly saw rock climbers crossing in front of the property to climb the nearby areas. This is the perfect home if you want to feel more secluded and get away from the town center (even though its only a short 7 minute drive down the hill). The large wraparound deck was great for chilling in the sun and grilling, and the kitchen was fully stocked and easy to use for our meals. The one downside of this house is that it is fairly loud - all the sound on the upper floor bedroom/restroom vibrates the entire floor below as people walk around. Also, the light above the dining room table did not work and the oven was not working but management was able to resolve this for us within 24 hours.

My husband and I needed to escape the city for a few days and this was the perfect place for our getaway. The location is perfect and walking distance to the Devil's slide trail which was a huge plus. The property itself was gorgeous, and we loved lounging in the upstairs living room and being able to use the full kitchen to make dinner by a cozy fire. Can't wait to go back!
Jennifer G. Dec 2019
Beautiful views, close to town but far enough away that you feel like your in the wilderness. Very cozy mountain feel.
Virginia W. Sep 2019
Tahquitz Lodge is the perfect place to unwind! Not only is the cabin beautiful, it is ideally located close to many scenic hiking trails and only a short drive to town. We especially enjoyed the wraparound deck with breathtaking views, the well appointed kitchen and the comfy beds. We've stayed in several other cabins in previous trips to Idyllwild, but this one is the best yet! We are already counting the days until our next visit.
Kathy V. Aug 2019
Everyone says it but it's true. The view!! Being in the trees. We were here in August and the lovely interior stayed cool. The wrap around deck was up above the insects. (okay, its a trek up the stairs but for a bug free night in the trees--worth it!)
The sound of the creek across the way at night. And minutes from trail head. (There is a trail down to the creek..Across the street up a few feet and go down the steps)
Awesome stay. clean comfortable...can't wait to go back
Lisa W. Jul 2019
My husband, dog, and I reserved this cabin for the 4th of July weekend to get away from all the noisy fireworks (it upsets the dog greatly, and therefore makes us miserable). And this place was perfect. So quiet and peaceful. Great location to hiking trails. The deck was amazing with very nice outdoor furniture and the barbecue was better than the one we have at home. Some might have issue with the master bathroom, but it honestly wasn’t a big deal to us. What ended up being a minor hiccup is the spiral staircase because the dog was afraid of them. The cabin was clean, well stocked with toiletries, kitchen utensils, and linens. We definitely would love to come back.
Thomas N. Apr 2019
The location is great, the lodge is great. Just a stone’s throw across the street from the creek so you can hear the water running by,
The only thing I would have liked differently is the amount of stairs, but not enough to impact my rating. Truth is...if you don’t like this place, then you have no business going on vacation at all.
Martin C. Mar 2019
Enjoyed our stay, very clear directions and clean.
Karla V. Mar 2019
Our stay was wonderful, We spend a great time as a family
The house it was a charming place, I did love the kitchen, and of course we enjoyed the most amazing view. !!!!!
Jaqueline G. Feb 2019
Great location with spectacular views!! Close to amazing hiking trails and rock climbing. The cabin was in excellent condition and loved the cozy night time fires. Will definitely book again
Joel C. Jan 2019
Very cozy, awesome view, and clean. We had a great time!
Alana C. Dec 2018
I'm in love! Was beautiful and had everything you need. Would absolutely book again!
Robert T. Dec 2018
Stayed for a couple of days in December '18. The cabin itself is pretty big for what we paid. 2 smaller bedrooms on the 1st floor and a larger master bedroom on the 2nd floor We loved that the cabin had huge window in the front and back to take in the scenery. The deck that wrapped around the entire structure was also pretty cool. The inside had a warm "lived-in" feeling. The huge fireplace was a bonus as it got pretty cold at night. Hint: During the winter months get the heater started early as it took some time to heat up the entire cabin. The kitchen had everything we needed. Lots of reading material and board games to keep you occupied. The only complaint I had was the amount of stairs we had to take to get from the parking area to the 2nd level so lugging the wife's luggage plus cooler, plus everything else was a bit of a workout but definitely not enough of a complaint to drop below a 5 star rating in my opinion. Would definitely stay again.
Maria S. Dec 2018
We very much enjoyed our stay. Beautiful deck. Pretty high up from town, but only minutes away.
Susan H. Nov 2018
Loved the location and ambiance of this cabin! It was 3 of us girlfriend's and 2 doggies and loved the fires and quiet area. Would love to stay here again but the stairs were pretty killer for us ladies, so be prepared to shlep everything up the stairs!
Sasha S. Oct 2018
Such a great cabin right by one of the popular trailheads! Felt at home from the second we walked in!
Vanessa S. Aug 2018
La casa tiene una cocina muy espaciosa integrada en la sala, nueva y bonita, también una hermosa terraza con vistas estupendas.
Vanessa W. Jul 2018
Very nice cabin !
Anne L. Apr 2018
Easy access to trails like Ernie Maxwell and Devils Slide,we enjoyed hiking high in the clouds with our dog and then exhausted napped on the sofa next to the log fire, bliss,
David W. Feb 2018
This is a very nice property located on the edge of the developed area of Idyllwild so there is very little traffic. Also very near hiking trails in the area.

The upstairs living room has great views of the mountains as you are 20 feet up into the trees.

Easily accommodates groups of 6 or more.

Master has only a queen bed and the toilet is very tight next to the shower. Oh and watch out of the post in the middle of the master and the raised floor in the bathroom on the middle of the night.
Frederic H. Feb 2018
Great location & views!
Maureen L. Jan 2018
We took our adult children & grandson (toddler) to the cabin. We really like the furnishings & found it comfortable/cozy. GREAT view of the mountain & peaceful. Had not been to Idyllwild before, we all liked the town & cafes/stores and hiking nearby. Th fresh air was amazing. My husband & I took the upstairs master, which was nice overall - comfortable bed etc. Only real negative was the master bathroom set up - the toilet is just over a dividing wall (that doesn't reach up to the ceiling). A note for those modest folks. The BBQ didn't have propane but not a huge deal. We'd go back but I might just take the downstairs next time.
Patrick T. Oct 2017
Location is great but cabine smells like a campfire. The smoky smell is in the home. Also all the patio chairs were removed except for two. We had 6 adults in the home and we could not enjoy the patio which was a big part of our trip.
Manager response:
We are sorry to see there were some disappointments during this visit. The patio furniture was broken and had to be removed for safety reasons. The homeowners will not be replacing the set at this time due to the upcoming winter season. Both chimneys have been swept, the carpets have been cleaned, and a deep clean will be performed on the rest of the home by the end of the month. Thanks!
Julie S. Aug 2017
If sleep isn't that important to you, this is a great place to stay. Good for a couple up to probably 4 people. Near hiking trails and near town but tucked away from it all. Given altitude, unless you are very fit, town is not within walking distance but is a very short drive away. Some great restaurants to eat at, including lovely vegetarian options and stores that were accessible even until 10 pm.
Patrick M. Jun 2017
Great location...beautiful cabin...some older appliances but they all work so not really a major issue...we would stay here again for sure!
Sandra F. May 2017
Cynthia O. May 2017
Great deck to enjoy the afternoon after hiking and great location!
Michele H. Apr 2017
We just spend Spring Break at this cabin and it was fantastic. Close to town, but still very much in the woods, close to tons of hiking and adventuring. The cabin was wonderful. Loved the location and the amenities. We look forward to returning.
Kimberly P. Apr 2017
The cabin is spacious and able to accommodate a large family. The outdoor deck was a special place to enjoy the sun and watch the birds.
Lynda F. Mar 2017
We truly enjoyed are stay and made good use of the games, barbecue and even the oven. The three bedrooms help if you have family, and we loved the deck and the views from the family room. Great place to stay.
Annie C. Mar 2017
This cabin was in an amazing location, walking distance to the entrance of Humber Park. The deck was wonderful and provided a great space to relax. The accommodations were rustic, the beds are very uncomfortable and there were some maintenance issues with the bathrooms (unusable shower doors and no hairdryers provided). The kitchen, while very dated, had everything you would need to cook a nice meal. The layout of the house was fine, but the stairs were very steep so use caution with small children. 5 stars for location layout, 3 stars for the condition of the cabin.
Manager response:
It’s great to hear that you were able to relax and enjoy this wonderful location during your stay! Our local operations manager was able to visit the home after your stay and has fixed the shower door. A hair dryer is not an amenity that is provided for this home, so you will want to be sure to pack on for your next stay. We look forward to having you back again!
Stacey S. Mar 2017
Relax, get comfy and enjoy!
Sarah C. Feb 2017
This cabin was in a prime location! we were in walking distance of the most incredible trails and sledding! The treck to the front door was a challenge, especially in the snow. The stairs within the cabin are not for the weak, they are very steep. It was a cozy place to stay, and we enjoyed having our pets with us, although our older dog could not make it up the stairs and carrying her was not an option. Other than that, it was the best time!
Sean W. Dec 2016
We have stayed in many cabins in idyllwild. This is now our favorite. The creek across the street is perfect for kids to roam . We definitely will stay again .
Adrienne H. Nov 2016
We were hoping to stay again during New Year's but it was booked! The only reason we didn't rebook this cabin. It is so cozy and we really enjoyed our stay there. If you want to relax this is the place to do so.
Kim F. Nov 2016
We loved our stay here... it slept 6 of us comfortably and we cooked great meals in the kitchen and used the grill. The deck was amazing and peaceful. We loved that we could walk right out the door to start our hikes, as the trail heads were a short walk away. Easy five minute drive to town. Lovely all around!
William C. Oct 2016
Great location, roomy and an amazing deck.
Patrick T. Oct 2016
Enjoyed our stay. The fireplace and patio, and the view of the trees was the best part of the home.
Norris M. Sep 2016
Super convenient location if you are planning to hike or climb. Really nice living room with a great fireplace, nice big deck. The WiFi is not reliable however
Vanessa W. Sep 2016
We had a great time at the property, there was enough room for our group of 5. The wrap around porch is great for lounging and grilling out. It's very close - a short uphill hike - to Humber Park which has some great trails, and a short drive to the "downtown" area and other restaurants. The bathrooms were stocked with little hotel soaps which we appreciated, and the kitchen had all the basics to cook a meal. Would recommend to others looking for a place to stay in Idylllwild.
Jennie C. Aug 2016
this is a great location in Fern Valley that is not too far from town and had great views of the peaks and trees. I loved staying here especially with how quiet it was. The house was perfect for 6 adults and we made good use of the patio.
Anne U. Jul 2016
Once you are on the living room floor the place is ideal. It is so incredibly peace. The kitchen is well equipped. Very nice top floor. Didn't go to bottom floor but a few times because of ththe crazy stairs
Laura O. Jun 2016
We enjoyed our stay very much. I would definitely go again.
Sandy M. Jun 2016
The cabin was beautiful with a wrap around deck, great views of Suicide Rock but
the only way to get to the main level is a steep, narrow circular staircase. We have an english bulldog who could not walk up so had to carry her up and down every time she had to go out. Not recommended for small dogs or old dogs or those who are afraid of stairs. Also makes lugging suitcases and food, etc. to the main level a challenge. Other than that it was great. Close to hiking trails, private. Some car noise from people driving to Humber park.
Matthew G. Jun 2016
Recommend a trip to Idyllwild. My family and I visit several times a year to enjoy the beautiful mountain views, peaceful surroundings, artistic village town. We never tire of it. It is a quick drive from Los Angeles. But a world apart. The log cabin provides all the creature comforts of home. We are always sad to leave.
Mike N. May 2016
This is a pretty cool house but if stairs are your enemy, be aware. And although you can sleep 8, the upstairs was a tad cramped. It was a little difficult for 8 adults to navigate throughout the house. Also, there's no door to separate the master bedroom and bathroom, just a wall. Kind of interesting. But other than that, the area is very cool, very quiet (other than the cars going up to Humber Park). The deck was awesome, especially in the mornings and late afternoons. Kitchen was well stocked (could have used more pans, there's tons of pots). Overall, the house did exactly what it was supposed to do..keep us comfortable and entertained.
Samantha C. May 2016
Humber park is about a ten minute walk up the road. This was a very nice property that was more secluded than the others. The power went out for about 30 minutes on Saturday night so I would stock up on wood and bring a flashlight or two in case this happens to you. The property is so awesome, stocked with books and games for a really fun weekend
Connie K. Apr 2016
Nice place. It sleeps 8 but pretty small rooms and living area. There is a circular stairway that would be difficult for elderly or in our case an elderly dog. Far from town but close to Humber Park. It sleeps 8 so they packed the furniture in there so people could sleep and sit but really crowded.
Killu S. Apr 2016
Stayed Sun to Fri for kids spring break and absolutely loved this cabin. Very clean, and if you are ok with stairs outside and inside, also very comfortable. Well stocked kitchen, large stone fireplace, wraparound deck, great views, close to Humber park trail heads. Can't wait to return! While we have stayed at fancier cabins with respect to furnishings etc, we loved everything about this cabin and its apparent sensibilities. Note: cell phone coverage in that area is poor but not specific to this cabin. Very happy overall and look forward to returning.
Lindsay M. Apr 2016
If you are looking to be close to trails this place is perfectly located! I stayed with a group of 7 girls for a birthday weekend. We were able to walk to hiking trails, which was perfect! We didn't spend much time in town, but if we wanted to it was very close. The views in the main living space are gorgeous. Unfortunately we got rain most of the weekend so we weren't able to utilize the patio space, but the deck was one of the reasons we chose this place. We brought all of our own games, but they have plenty and I enjoyed browsing through all the really cool books! Plenty of extra blankets/towels/pillows. If you plan to bring a pet (we didn't but I did consider), then you should be aware that the stairs inside the place are spiral and a little bit steep/narrow. Would recommend.
Sam S. Mar 2016
Alexander W. Mar 2016
Would stay here again if they cleaned the place before we came.
Vanessa R. Mar 2016
Great location. Very peaceful and close to hiking trail. The place needed to be stocked better with toilet paper and paper towels but all other necessary items were provided.
Nikola S. Mar 2016
Sandra Z. Feb 2016
Loved the location
VENO A. Feb 2016
Absolutely true cabin experience. Will stay here again.
Edgar L. Feb 2016
This is an excellent cabin for a somewhat large family. The deck is very inviting to relax while you enjoy the outdoor. The cabin is away from the village so it allows for you to enjoy your time without the noise and traffic of the village. Kitchen, dining room and living room are on the same floor which allows you to enjoy your time with your family either inside or outside on the deck.
Erik G. Jan 2016
We stayed here for a few days and we had a wonderful time! We came in the end of January and our kids played in the snow and went sledding down the slope near the house. The upper floor, where the living room, dining area, kitchen and one of the bedrooms and bathrooms are is light and airy feeling with big windows that look out to a beautiful view of pine trees and mountains and the deck wraps around the whole upper part of the house. There was a lovely park in town that had so many thoughtful and fun details, we were lucky to have found it, the kids really had a great time there. All in all, idyllwild and Tahquitz Rock Lodge was a beautiful, serene and relaxing place to unwind and enjoy family time.
Randy C. Jan 2016
Loved the cabin and the location was awesome.
