Spacious house w/mountain views, bunkhouse & hot tub—dogs welcome!

This stunning three-bedroom and dog-friendly Port Angeles vacation rental boasts gorgeous mountaintop views of the Strait of Juan de Fuca, a main lodge-like home with two bedrooms, and a separate bunkhouse! You'll also have a private hot tub and a comfortable, laid-back interior throughout!

This great location is on 20 acres that back up to the Olympic National Forest at a breathtaking 2,500-foot elevation. You'll feel like you are on top of the world! From here, it's just a 15-mile drive into town and the ferry docks, and 20 miles to the entrance of Olympic National Park. And while the nearby attractions are exceptional, you may just opt to hang out close to home, taking in the views from one of the multiple decks!

Inside, you'll be treated to cozy wood paneling and an open floor plan, with large windows that let in a lot of natural light. Casual furnishings (including a bear skin on the wall) will make everyone feel at home whether you're sitting in front of the wood stove or watching something on the flatscreen TV. There's also a DVD player, movie library, Netflix streaming, and WiFi.

Out on the spacious deck just off the living room, you'll have a couple of picnic tables for scenic outdoor meals, as well as a gas grill. And just off the deck is the private hot tub—perfect for an evening soak under the stars! This home has multiple decks, so you can always find a quiet spot to relax and breathe in that fresh sea air!

The full kitchen is well-stocked with all major appliances, and when it's time to eat, there's an eight-person dining table inside. This main level also has a bathroom with a shower.

Upstairs, there is a master bedroom with a California king and a twin day bed, as well as a second bedroom with a lovely antique full-size bed and a set of twin bunk beds. There is also bathroom with a shower on this level. Up to eight guests can comfortably stay in the main home.

The bunkhouse is just next door and has its own full kitchen, a sitting area, and a bathroom with a shower. Sleeping options include a twin bunk bed set and a twin-over full bunk bed. All together, up to 14 guests can stay at this Port Angeles retreat, with beds for 12.

Additional amenities include games, a private washer/dryer, and a stereo. You can also bring your dogs with you for an additional fee.

Right from the property, head up a private trail to an upper view area with amazing vistas of the water. The landscaping is very minimal and natural with native plants and a rustic feel. This mountaintop lodge is a great choice for families, couples with kids, or anyone that wants a unique vacation on the Olympic Peninsula!

While here you can schedule a day trip to the nearby Victorian town of Port Townsend (45 miles east), take a ferry to Victoria, British Columbia, or pack some trail mix and some water and spend the day hiking in Olympic National Park.

Plan a memorable retreat to this secluded Olympic Peninsula vacation rental for a mountaintop location with plenty of amenities for your whole group!

It was an amazing view and far off grid. The night was filled with amazing stars and the humbling howling of a nearby wolfpack. True cabin feel.

This place is so peaceful, and we loved getting to spend a few days here. The views of the mountains and the water (and Canada) are unbeatable, including sunrise and sunset. Port Angeles and Dungeness Spit are visible. There were lots of birds and chipmunks to watch, and on our last day we even had a deer visitor. Nicely isolated, but not far from anything you could need.

Very accommodating for our large family. The view from the porch was gorgeous.

From the howling coyotes in the valley to the hot tub with a view of Vancouver island; from the cozy bunk house to tthe very well appointed kitchen, this house is everything we were promised. And of course there is the unparalleled beauty of the National Park within easy driving distance. Vacation doesn't get much better than this.

We loved our stay. The views are fantastic. We really enjoyed watching the eagles from the deck. Wifi was impressively good for such an isolated location.
Mary P. Apr 2021
We love the warm home, the view of sunrise and sunset over the mountains. We love the solitude, the hot tub, the room to spread out. We loved the good kitchen, fantastic showers. Plus, so many interesting books about the area and its history. We would re-book now, if it we available!

Everything was great, really enjoyed our stay.

The view is incredible! It was a very needed time away and this was exactly what I needed

There is much to commend this home if you're looking for something without immediate neighbors. It is about 20 minutes outside Port Angeles between that town and Sequim. It is way up an isolated road with amazing views of the Olympics, the straight and Canada. There is space to spread out and the kitchen is well-stocked with cookware and spices. We would give this 5 stars if we hadn't experienced some cleaning and disrepair issues. When we arrived, the floors in the main house and bunkhouse were covered in dirt and dog hair. We spent about 45 minutes sweeping it all up ourselves. The furniture also showed much dog hair (the place is advertised as dog friendly, so the question is whether this is acceptable or not). The windows in the bunkhouse were lined with dead flies. The fire pit, which we were looking forward to using, was labeled as not working/don't use. And the frame for the hot tub cover was broken. We were still able to slide the lid most of the way off to sit in it. It's an amazing property but needs to meet expectations on advertised amenities actually being available and cleanliness, especially given the inclusion of a cleaning fee. We recommend the place but maybe with a check-in before renting to determine current state of amenities you're interested in.
Manager response:
We appreciate your review, Jennifer, and are so glad you chose to stay with us. We are in the middle of transitioning our housekeeping staff as we work to get the cleanliness of our homes up to our high standards. Our staff will always do their best to remove any evidence of dogs in the home. Please do not hesitate to reach out so we can assist you with any oversights. Thank you!

Our group totally loved this place. The magnificent views from here were comparable to the hurricane ridge. The only downside is that the uphill drive to this place is a bit secluded with sharp turns and narrow pathways. Would have been nice to put some signboards saying- "Don't worry, keep going... awesomeness awaits you at the top :)"...

Overall a great experience. It's pretty up the mountain which offers great views (if the fog/clouds clear up!) and amazing sunsets from the hot tub. Everything was clean and easy to find. Lots of activities for all ages (games, movies, telescope). The hot tub was great. The fridge/freezer had a little trouble keeping things cold but that could have just been that we loaded it up with groceries.
Corrina E. Jul 2020
Enjoyed the views and the home. The hot tub was great, the kitchen had lots of dishes so cooking was easy.
The only drawback was that the mattresses were not very comfortable. 🤨 I ended up blowing up an air mattress I brought with me.
Manager response:
Hey, Corrina! Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We apologize that the mattress was uncomfortable. They are purchased by the owner's comfort level. We hope we have the chance to host you again in the future.

The view from this home is absolutely incredible! It was a wonderful spot for our large group to spend some time. The kids loved having the bunk house to themselves and exploring the forests around the house. However, the driveway was difficult in our minivan (we could hear the bottom of the van scraping on the large rocks in the driveway)...and the cleanliness of the house left something to be desired.

The amenities and size made the stay comfortable.

At the end of the road, next to nowhere you'll find this incredibly positioned hideaway. If you want to get away from it all with an INCREDIBLE view, this is the place. The home is showing some wear, but if you spend your time looking for blemishes, you'll miss the view. Bunkhouse is the right term -- the property has two adjacent 'cabins' -- both with kitchens and washrooms. The secondary cabin is a common room (sleeps 5; incl 1 double). The primary cabin sleeps 6 in beds.

The view was beyond words, way beyond. You can see the mountains and curves of the land features as it progresses towards the strait with all the boat traffic. Both Sequim and Port Angeles in one view - amazing. It is at the very end of the road, it was lovely to not hear a single car, person, train, boat, motor hum, electrical hum... nothing. We sat in the hot tub and watched the mating dance of the humming birds. GREAT place for meditation and seeking inner quiet. The king bed was THE BEST BED I HAVE EVER SLEPT IN. One of my favorite days was when the clouds came in, right up to the deck, even close... I watched cloud travel between me and the other people talking. It rained, without raining. Totally worth it even if its not sunny out.

So those were the pros, there were some cons. The kitchen equipment is well stocked but dated, and many items need replaced to work properly. The buildings are not completely septic, the grey water runs off into the ground. (dishwasher comes right out the walls by the door, laundry machine right under the rock by the front door and the lower level showers... out the pipes under the porch.) And when I was out walking the property I discovered garbage dumped over the side of one of the off-shoot flat areas from the driveway. There was old mini-fridge and old mattresses, mini-blinds, bags of random garbage broken open into the woodland. The other con was the hot tub, I think it leaks. We had to fill it regularly to make sure there was the water level that the manual recommends, (glad we found the hose).

The vacation was great, and I might re-rent this one, but I'd have to think about it.
Manager response:
Thank you to the guest for providing feedback about their stay at Blue Mountain Lodge in Port Angeles. Please let us reassure future guests that we are doing our Spring Inspections this month and out of those inspections we bring recommendations to the owner for upgrades and will definitely inspect the hot tub for a possible slow leak. The adjacent property where said found items does not belong to Vacasa or the owner and unfortunately we have no control over that. Here at Vacasa, it is our highest priority to make sure each guest has the best experience possible, and our 24/7 guest hotline is always available to help if anything comes up.

This cabin is very remote but has a wonderful view!
Roxanne L. Jun 2017
Had 5 adults, 5 kids (ages 3 - 15) and 1 dog -- and we all had a great time! Reviews about the driveway weren't exaggerated -- long, graveled with switchbacks -- but the view is breathtaking. Thank goodness for the Vacasa sign near the end! Fortunately, the weather was good so we used the hot tub, fire pit and outside table while enjoying the morning views and evening sunsets. Takes about 15 minutes to get back to Hwy. 101, so we were quite a distance from town. King bed is very comfy -- all the others, not so much. Hope some sprucing up occurs, before we come again!
Vanessa J. May 2017
Overall this was a great place for a quiet family retreat. The view was incredible and I loves having the hot tub to soak in. The bunk house was great for a larger group if you have one. However the beds in all rooms need to be updated as they are very uncomfortable. Also the dishes and pots and pans, utensils were very worn and made me uncomfortable to cook with as they seemed dirty and the non stick coating was coming off in chunks.
Manager response:
The owners will personally inspect the mattresses in June to see if they need to be replaced. The Property Manager will bring new pots and pans to the home to replace the scratched ones. Thank you!

We stayed here with family, 10 of us total. It was a wonderful place with more than enough space (and bathrooms) for all of us. It's a but of a drive up to the cabin, but the view makes it completely worth it. We were a little worried about the dirt road up, but we had no problems driving it during a very rainy week in a rental minivan. The telescope in the main room was one of the best perks of our stay. Someone was always peering through it at a passing ship or snowy mountaintop. The bunkhouse was great for the kids, but parents be warned: the full sized bed was very uncomfortable. Every other bed in the place was fine. The cabins were well stocked with everything we needed, with the only exception being coffee cups. We have a lot of coffee drinkers in our family, and if you were one of the last to arrive in the kitchen, you were out of luck until someone else was finished.

We really enjoyed our stay and recommended these cabins to anyone looking for a place to stay with a large family or multiple families.

Such a beautiful space, amazing views!

This may be a little drive up a mountain, but it is worth every minute once you get to the top! The cabin sits on top of a mountain that looks over the most beautiful forest and ocean landscape. It is truly breathtaking! The cabin, however, is a lititle dated. The furnishings could all be updated to make the stay much more pleasant. Beware the mattresses are not comfortable at all. We spent most of our time outside due to the gorgeous views and perfect weather. Be sure to get in a few trails nearby at the Olympic National Forest, you will not be disappointed. Vacasa was wonderful to work with and will definitely rent from them again!

An absolutely gorgeous property that is stocked with everything you will need for your stay. A breathtaking view awaits you!

We had three families stay at this cabin while visiting the Port Angeles area to assist a local church. One family stayed in the bunk house and the other two families stayed in the main house. It took a little planning to schedule shower times, but this cabin worked great for housing 3 families. The living area/kitchen area was a little smaller than I was expecting from the pictures, but it was adequate. The best part of this cabin is the view. The view from the back patio area is unmatched. I will say that the drive to the cabin is a little scary at first. We made the trek up the mountain to the cabin at 3:30 AM in the dark and we were starting to wonder if we were lost on a logging trail! We were very thankful to see the cabin at the end of the drive. The driveway is long and a little rough, but it is very manageable. This cabin is stocked with just about everything you need for a family getaway. I would certainly stay here again.

Great property for a family gathering; location is remote so day trips are even longer than normal.
Jeremy R. May 2016
This house has it all and the view is incredible. This is my new favorite vacation house in western Washington.
Ellie R. Apr 2016
This house was amazing, the view was perfect, the weather was nice, the location was amazing! We couldn't have ask for a better for family vacation. It was so much fun to bring the dogs with us. The inclosed deck was out favorite spot to just hang out while we were at the house. The location of the house had just as great of view of part of Hurricane Ridge and it might have been a kind of long drive to the house but the road was not too far from either Port Angeles or Squime.
Rhonda M. Apr 2016
We had 12 women attend a retreat at this cabin. It was absolutely breath taking and we all had a wonderful time!
Scott S. Mar 2016
Great home and great amenities. One of our favorite homes rented - loved it. View from master is epic, hot tub is perfect. Great porch and acreage. Highly recommend - La Push - 1.5 hrs Ho Rainforest 2. Hurricane ridge 35-40 mins...Get a burger at Next Door Gastro pub when in Port Angeles. Then go to Front street for a view.
Laura M. Aug 2015
We recently spent three nights at the Blue Mountain lodge with my brother and sister-in-law and their family. We loved it. There were plenty of beds to accommodate the 12 of us. The kitchen was well stocked with all the equipment for our cooking/baking needs. The views are amazing. The telescope was a lot of fun. It's close enough to Port Angeles and all of it's attractions for easy day trips. We would definitely recommend this spot to friends and family.
