The neighborhood:
Kalapaki Bay gives Lihue a softer, beachier side, with protected water, sand, and a harborfront setting near restaurants. Nawiliwili Harbor is close for a walk and a meal, while Lihue's location makes it straightforward to explore the rest of Kauai by car. Head south for Poipu's sunny beaches, east for Kapa'a's bike path, or north when you have a full day for Hanalei. Getting around:
Lihue Airport is only about 10 minutes away, making this one of Kauai's most convenient home bases.
