OVERVIEW
Hidden among two private wooded acres in the Appalachian Highlands of Western Maryland, Fleur de Montagna is a distinctive architectural retreat where timeless design, natural beauty, and quiet luxury exist in perfect harmony. Inspired by the visionary principles of Frank Lloyd Wright, the refined Prairie School tradition of John Van Bergen, and the tranquil simplicity of Japanese Zen design, the home celebrates organic architecture through sweeping horizontal lines, handcrafted art glass, rich Mission-style furnishings, warm natural materials, Japanese gardens, and expansive windows that dissolve the boundary between indoors and the surrounding forest. Every space has been thoughtfully composed to foster a sense of harmony, comfort, and quiet reflection. Natural light moves throughout the home during the day, creating ever-changing views of the surrounding woodland and highlighting the craftsmanship, proportions, and intentional details found throughout the retreat. As an Official Lodging Partner of Fallingwater®, Fleur de Montagna offers guests a rare opportunity to extend their architectural journey beyond one of America's most celebrated homes. Located approximately 30 miles from Fallingwater, the retreat provides an ideal base for exploring this iconic destination before returning to the serenity and privacy of your own private architectural retreat. Whether enjoying morning coffee on the covered porch as sunlight filters through the trees, reading beside the fireplace, gathering around the outdoor fire pit beneath a canopy of stars, or simply listening to the sounds of the forest, every moment invites you to slow down, reconnect with nature, and embrace the restorative beauty of intentional design. Perfect for couples, architecture enthusiasts, artists, photographers, and discerning travelers, Fleur de Montagna comfortably accommodates up to four guests while offering a rare opportunity to experience architecture, nature, and tranquility in perfect harmony.
Fleur de Montagna was designed for guests who appreciate beauty, craftsmanship, and the calming influence of nature.
Warm wood, clean architectural lines, carefully selected furnishings, and expansive forest views create an atmosphere of refined simplicity. The home encourages guests to slow the pace of everyday life and enjoy meaningful moments—whether sharing a meal, relaxing by the fire, reading quietly, or taking in the changing seasons from the comfort of the retreat.
