Dog-friendly Cabin with Private Hot Tub, Great Deck & Access to Shared Pool, Sauna

At the western edge of Black Butte Ranch is a getaway whose comfortable charm and renewed amenities blend perfectly with the spectacular surroundings. It’s a well-appointed but cozy retreat, dog-friendly, and hot tub-equipped, making for a relaxing headquarters for the endless outdoor possibilities - biking, hiking, skiing, fishing, golf and tennis, all in one of the most scenic spots in the American West.

The home features four bedrooms, a loft, and three and a half bathrooms. The knotty pine paneling, expansive picture windows, and 14-foot living-room ceiling fit the mountain motif, as does a classic, lava-rock fireplace that seems straight out of a ski lodge. A recent major, kitchen-centered remodel includes honey-hued alder cabinetry, new appliances featuring a combination convection/microwave oven, and a gorgeous refinish of a pine picnic-style table.

A flatscreen TV, DVD player, Bluetooth sound box, and WiFi availability are part of the living room, which adjoins a mud room designed to accommodate extensive ski equipment or double as staging area for the hot tub outside. In addition to two bathrooms - one updated with the kitchen remodel - the lower floor also houses a bedroom with a queen bed at the home’s entryway, and a laundry room.

Upstairs, you’ll find two bedrooms with king beds; a third oversize room featuring a set of bunk beds, a queen bed, a flatscreen TV, and an accompanying half-bath; and a loft with a futon. The loft has a four-seat table and another flatscreen TV/DVD setup, and it makes for a great kids' gaming area. Also on the upper level is the largest bathroom.

Go outside the mud room downstairs and step onto a 1,300-square-foot deck, one of the largest at Black Butte. It’s easily big enough for entertaining, or it can be merely an inviting spot to relax on a variety of outdoor furniture.

The home sleeps as many as 12 guests, two dogs, and is a great jumping-off point for the array of outdoor pursuits in Central Oregon. On-site are two memorable golf courses. Big Meadow, named by GolfWeek Magazine in 2013 as one of 'The Best Courses You Can Play' in Oregon, is a picturesque layout with mountain vistas, including the iconic view of the volcanic peak Three-Fingered Jack from the 14th tee. Glaze Meadow is a tighter track, but with similarly appealing panoramas, including the North Sister and Mount Washington.

A maze of bike paths crisscross Black Butte. There are four outdoor swimming pools, an indoor pool, a sauna, and a workout facility. The Ranch has four dining options, a couple of which overlook Phalarope Lake, a haven for kayaking, canoeing, paddleboarding, and fly-fishing. Horseback riding is another possibility, through stables on-site.

Beyond the Ranch, but not far beyond, is an outdoor lover’s paradise. Hoodoo Ski Area is 14 miles west, or to the east, you can venture outside Bend to one of the West’s best ski destinations, Mt. Bachelor.

Fishing, hiking, camping, and other water sports options abound. The Western-themed town of Sisters is only eight miles east, and bustling Bend is just 45 minutes away.

*At check-in, please be aware that the resort will collect a $9 daily fee for every guest seven years and older for access. Also, note that motorcycles are not permitted on the ranch.

*Please note that four cars can fit in the driveway parked behind one another. There is no parking in the garage.

After many years of coming to Black Butte as kids, we now got to share the magic with our kids. We loved the house layout, perfect for our family of 12 (6 kids and 6 adults)! Plenty of space for sleeping, eating and hanging out as well as excellent access to bike paths, all 5 pools, golf courses and everything. Well equipped and perfect for our week of fun. Thank you!

Great location. Fireplace was a bit smoky even though we had the chimney flu open, so that probably needs checking. Otherwise this is a great house.
Danielle S. Apr 2022
The home was clean with a nice updated kitchen. Having 4 bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms was nice for a larger group. We enjoyed the large deck to relax and use the hot tub! The linens on the beds could use an update as they were quite scratchy. We understand this is a dog friendly home but there was quite a lot of white dog hair left from previous occupants. Overall, we had a nice long weekend of sun, rain and snow!
Manager response:
Thank you for your review, Danielle. We are glad that you enjoyed your stay at our home. We have passed your feedback regarding the beds to our property manager. We apologize for any residual pet hair in the unit. We will follow up with our housekeeping team to see that future cleans are completed to our standards, and we hope to have another chance to impress you in the future!

The house was big adequate for seven of us. We enjoyed Black Butte’s walking trails and the forest service trails near this property. One downside was the heating situation. The wall heaters were noisy and had to run constantly in the 30 degree temperatures. The only two settings seemed to be full on or completely off.
Stephanie D. Mar 2022
We loved the space and how we could fit the whole family with no air mattresses and everyone was comfortable! The house was clean and lovely. We made breakfast and dinner there each of the days. I appreciated the access to the laundry, as we went skiing while we were there. The hot tub was loved by some of the family! There were plenty of bathrooms and no one ever had to fight over them.
I didn't have the lack of paper products and various soaps that other reviews mentioned, but did bring extra of those just in case it was an issue. :)
We did have issues with the heaters in each room. Some of them didn't turn off at all, even when it got sauna-levels (almost!) of hot in a particular room, even when set to 60-65. A couple of others (particularly the baseboard heaters) never seemed to warm the room at all. We opted in the middle of the first night to turn the heat pump heaters off completely because it was so stuffy. I'm guessing the thermostats are not functioning properly.
When we arrived at 5:35pm-ish on the first night, the cleaning lady was still there. She said she was told noone was checking in until the next day. She still had a couple of rooms left to finish. Not sure how that communication failure happened, but was glad we hadn't shown up as early as the 4pm we were allowed to! We waited in the car for about 30 minutes after we arrived, and I wound up going in and helping her put away clean linens to finish up. I'm assuming it wasn't her fault, but inaccurate information that was passed on to her, but the situation inconvenienced us a little as well as the pressure that was put on her when we showed up unexpectedly.
All in all, despite the kinks, we probably would stay again. It's an affordable house for the whole family in the winter-time, but doesn't exactly fit our budget for summer-time with higher rates.
Manager response:
Hi, Stephanie! We're happy you chose to stay with us and apologize for the oversights on our part. Heaters are being checked, and we have a vendor scheduled to do a thorough cleaning. Thank you!
Jennifer H. Jan 2022
Enjoyed the home and the time spent with family. Big enough home for us and our kids and Grandkids. Grandkids enjoyed the pool facility everybody enjoyed the hot tub. Things that need improvement the beds are very hard and uncomfortable with big dips in the middle. The checkout time being so early (10:00 a.m.) for the amount you pay to rent it and also pay $9 each person gets kind of expensive with a big group like us. And maybe a home manual so people understand how to work fireplace and other things.
melissa c. Jan 2022
I loved the layout of the house for a large group. The mud room was perfect for all of our snowboards and gear. The house was thoroughly stocked. We are often limited on our choice of stay because of our fur babies so I appreciate the owners for allowing pets. We would definitely stay again.
Velvet and Lawrence W. Jan 2022
Well stocked house and great for entertaining.
Michael W. Dec 2021
We stayed at Hawks Beard Home for Thanksgiving - 6 adults plus 6 kids - what we loved most was that the table was big enough - tight fit - for all of us to fit snuggly and the kitchen had plenty of counter space. The house is beautiful and we enjoyed our stay. Also, having three bathrooms is definitely a big plus. Questions and small issues (non-working light) were quickly taken care of. The only thing I could criticize was the heating and bathroom fans were loud, but they kept us warm and cozy during some freezing cold days. Thanks for sharing your home with us.
Tetyana V. Dec 2021
Not same as pictures. There is neighbors all around this house. Paying $9 fee daily for all 7 age and up gets expensive.
Overall it was great place
Bring toilet paper, laundry detergent, dish washer detergent if you run out they dont give you extras.
Manager response:
Thank you for your review, Tetyana! The required fees are explained in the confirmation email we send our guests; we apologize if you were caught unaware. The property manager is working on getting updated photos. Thanks again!
Anthony P. Oct 2021
Great location and home was as advertised.
Teresa L. May 2021
We had a weekend away with 9 women! The house, rooms, beds, bathrooms and kitchen were perfect! Plenty of room and fully stocked. Our only complaint was that the hot tub was dirty (sludge on the walls, long hair and short hairs floating in the water and debris on the ground with light green water), when I texted Kim, she was very responsive and told me they would come service it, however no one showed up and when I asked Kim about it again, I never heard back. It was sad we couldn't use the hot tub since that was one of the main reasons we rented this house. With a clean hot tub I would have given it 5 stars!
Manager response:
Hi Teresa! Thank you for submitting your feedback. We sincerely apologize for the issues you encountered with the hot tub at Hawks Beard Home. We are so sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you during your time with us. We will follow up with the appropriate parties regarding your experience. We hope for another opportunity to host you again soon, for a much more enjoyable stay!
Rachel D. Apr 2021
Great location and space!
Thomas K. Apr 2021
We stayed in different houses in Black Butte Ranch through Vacasa in the same week. House were both nice but one had trouble with wifi and the other with the cable tv and shortage of toilet paper and no guest manual. What was frustrating was how difficult it was to figure out who to contact and how to contact. It seemed like getting basic support was made deliberately difficult.
Manager response:
Hi Thomas - We are pleased you enjoyed your stay. All our contact information can be found noted on your Check-In Email or within our Guest App. Our agents are available 24/7 to assist our guests with any questions or situations during their stay. We hope to host you again soon.
Avery P. Jan 2021
Lovely spacious fully outfitted home among the trees - we were content and relaxed!
Annika S. Nov 2020
The place has a nice updated kitchen with everything you need. The WiFi was on and off the whole time. All the beds are hard and like sleeping on the floor. The couches had dog hair on them, including a bed comforter. I know dogs are allowed but leaving hair on things is ridiculous for the expensive cleaning fee we pay. It was a nice weekend here but overall I would not recommend this place.
Manager response:
Thank you for your review, Annika! We appreciate your feedback regarding the wifi, and encourage our in-home guests to call our 24 hours Guests Services line so local staff can assist promptly. We have had new internet equipment installed to address the Wifi instability. While we understand that sleeping preferences vary widely, we are sorry to hear that the bed did not provide for a comfortable night of rest. We apologize for the dog hair over-sight and have taken measures to ensure our teams are adhering to our Premium Clean protocol. We hope to impress you better in the future!
Chris H. Sep 2020
Black Butte is awesome. This was a fine, well stocked home base - and once we overcame a minor hot tub power situation all was great - well stocked, functional, close to everything, etc.
Thomas D. Jul 2020
House was very comfortable and a wonderful place for our family vacation and reunion!
Craig S. Jun 2020
We absolutely loved our stay at this beautiful home. Clean, well stocked kitchen. We especially loved the hot tube on the deck after a long day of hiking and swimming.
Philip C. Jun 2020
Comfy house, great and well equipped kitchen. Would definitely stay here again.
Ben J. Jan 2020
Great kitchen and living room, enjoyed having fires and socializing in that space. Bedrooms were comfortable and totally adequate. It’s not a luxury rental but great for the price. My only real complaint is with Vacasa, we were really hoping for an early check in and their follow through / attempt to accommodate us on that request was lackluster, and it’s kind of annoying they only leave you with a handful of laundry / dishwasher detergent pods and dryer sheets, etc.
Manager response:
We are happy that you enjoyed the home! Unfortunately, we are not able to always accommodate early check-in for guests. If someone is in the home the night prior to your arrival we are unable to allow early check-in so that our housekeeping staff has time to get the home prepared for our incoming guests. We do leave a starter pack of supplies such as dishwashing detergent, laundry soap, toilet paper, etc. and after that, we do ask that our guests provide their own. Thank you for your feedback and we hope to host you again!
Larry L. Dec 2019
We had our entire family (10 of us) ranging in age from 7 to 67 to celebrate Christmas at Black Butte. Check in was a breeze and everyone so cheerful and helpful....The house was roomy, well appointed and close to the outdoor activities we were looking for.....thank you for a place for all our Christmas cheer.....absolutely loved it....would do it again🎄
Natalie W. Nov 2019
It was very family friendly. Very cozy for the kids and grandparents. Absolutely loved the kitchen!!!
Elllen R. Nov 2019
Booking was easy and all information was communicated well. The house was clean and set up for our stay. Nice location within the ranch.
Crystal G. May 2018
The bunk room was fabulous for the boys, and it is seperate from the other bedrooms (a strange but effective staircase separates the three upstairs rooms).
We had 3 families, plus extra boys. The place was great!
Eric N. Apr 2018
We had fun relaxing in the hot tub, walking the trails, and spending time at the pool. Great place to stay with the family!
Fred R. Dec 2017
Great spot for holiday gathering!
Michele P. Nov 2017
Well located home that slept a lot of people comfortably.
Catherine F. Sep 2017
just go during the day if you have never been there. its pretty dark. :)
Jennifer B. Aug 2017
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The location was centrally located and convenient for biking to the bigger pools but also very quiet. There was a nice side street to walk on and a cul-de-sac where younger kids could bike while parents watched from large rear deck. The hot tub was clean and worked well. Kitchen and decor were a bit outdated but beds were comfortable and house was clean. Would definitely stay here again!
Dennis Y. Jul 2017
Good unit but it could be much better with some updates and improved maintenance. Nice location and amenities of Black Butte help the experience a lot.
Hilary C. Jul 2017
This is a nice comfy home. We especially loved that it has 3.5 bathrooms!
Hilary O. Jul 2017
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at GH151. It looks small, but the space is well laid out and would be great for two families or a larger group -- lots of spaces to spread out. It's a great location on the Main Street, so easy to find in the dark, and an easy walk or bike to pools, restaurants, and activities. While we didn't use it for our summer stay, the wood-burning fireplace would be wonderful in the winter! We usually travel with our dogs, but we would definitely stay here again when we don't (strict no pet policy).
Andrew J. Jun 2017
This is a wonderful, older home with a private hot tub and a very large deck for entertaining. There is a grill and enough outdoor seating to accommodate over 12 guests. Firewood is also provided, as well as all the kitchen utensils one would need. All we had to do was bring food! We had a very enjoyable time staying here, and would absolutely stay here again.
Ashlee R. May 2017
Enjoyed our 4 night stay at Black Butte Rsnch for Memorial weekend. Large home with nice layout for two families. Huge deck and hot tub were great additions. Well stocked kitchen and comfortable beds. Would stay here again!
Lisa S. Apr 2017
Great home for a large group. Nice layout and location. Home could be cleaner and needs a little love but it is well stocked and fun place to stay.
Lara B. Feb 2017
The kitchen was well stocked. Bathrooms for all. Enough room as well.
Kelly S. Nov 2016
Fun house, good location, I'd stay again
Stephen & Pamela L. Sep 2016
everything was great
Lisa T. Sep 2016
House feels like a long-time rental, neglected for a long time. Needs a freshening up for sure.
Manager response:
We are sorry to see that this guest found the accommodations a bit disappointing; the Property Manager will work with the owner on taking care of any items that are in need of attention.
Kevin P. Aug 2016
This property was perfect for 10 guests. The amenities exceeded what our expectations were. It was great to have the hot tub and large deck for our group. Very quiet and peaceful close to golf course.. Remember that there is an $8/per day fee per person. We didn't use any of the pools, rentals, etc., so seemed like a waste of money. The rentals for bikes and stuff were pretty high that we saw in the flyer that was given to us.
Victoria K. Aug 2016
Love the house! Had a wonderful time :)
Barbara D. Jul 2016
We have taken our children (and spouses) and grandchildren to Black Butte, and in particular GH151 for 1 5 years and it is our absolute favorite things to do as a family. We utilize and enjoy all of the amenities that BBR offers. We end our week with breakfast at the BBR lodge and start planning immediately for the next year.
Lynne S. Jul 2016
We were threes families (6 adults/6 kids) staying at this Hawks Beard home. The setup was ideal for our group - bunk room for the kids & each couple had a bedroom. The large deck with hot tub & grill was absolutely ideal for outdoor entertaining. The house was well equipped - kitchen had a nice array of cooking supplies, extra bedding in linen closets, 2 refrigerators (one in the garage), etc. We couldn't have been happier with the setup. And the management company was both solicitous & helpful. We would ABSOLUTELY stay at this Hawks Beard home again.
Rod T. Jul 2016
We appreciated the space for large groups with plenty of bathrooms.
Kate H. Jul 2016
Elton K. Jun 2016
10 people enjoyed a weekend of excellent golfing, and fantastic lodging. Was a great getaway!
Barabara D. Aug 2015
We have stayed in this house for 12+ summers. It sleeps 12 people, has plenty of bathrooms and is a perfect size for our family who comes and goes all day long - enjoying all the amenities on the property, and then a big deck for the whole family to gather for dinner, conversation and evening star gazing. It is very nicely located on the property. It makes for an ideal family vacation.
Ray H. Nov 2014
We were so impressed with our stay. The layout of all the rooms was perfect and we loved how many amenities were available. The Mud Room was my personal favorite for storing all of our winter gear. It was awesome! We would love to come again. From a family with four little boys in addition to visiting guests it was the Best Family Vacation House.
Stephanie W. Nov 2014
This house was a wonderful place to get away with friends who also had children. There were plenty of places to run and play and places to sit and be quiet and enjoy the scenery. Absolutely loved our time in this home and cannot wait to return!
Teresa A. Nov 2014
The house is has lots of beds and bathrooms and the hot tub was first rate. Everything we needed was in the house. It is an older home and the living room and kitchen are a bit small for the number of bedrooms. There is a loft and a play area in the bunk room, so it would be nice for families. I wish it had bikes.
Nancy C. Aug 2014
This house could very comfortably sleep 10 people but we only had 7. The only place it was ever tight was when we were in the kitchen. Location was fine and patio is awesome. Hot tub made the trip really fun. Everything that is cleaned weekly was very clean. It was nice to have the garage empty for our bikes and the mud room was great. Plenty of bathrooms and the bunk room was also a fun place for the kids to hang out.
Michael P. Aug 2014
Black Butte Ranch has a very nice view of Mount Bachelor and the Sisters mountains. Biking/walking trails all through the ranch make it safe and convenient to get some exercise and enjoy the beautiful pines. The community was mostly quiet and I always felt safe there. Our family reunion was spread across 2 houses in Black Butte Ranch but we had plenty to do together with a few excursions within an hour drive.
Robert D. Aug 2014
We have stayed at GH 151 for approximately 13- 14 years. It is a perfect fit for the grandparents, their two children and spouses and the 5 grandchildren. The location of the home is within easy walking distance to every thing on the Ranch and we have always had a wonderful experience being there.
Mark W. Jul 2014
We went to Black Butte in late June and the weather turned out to be a little less than optimal, but we had a great time anyway! The house isn't super modern or anything but is very clean and comfortable. We had two families staying in the house and it didn't feel cramped. We appreciated the 4 bathrooms!
Manager response:
We're sorry to hear that the weather didn't cooperate with you during your stay, but we are happy to hear that you had a great time visiting. Clean, comfortable and spacious are great compliments for this home. Thanks for staying!
Karen R. May 2014
We chose this house because of the spa, 4 bathrooms and 2 King beds. The large deck was perfect for relaxing and hanging out. This is a great house for a large family or multiple families.
We had a great holiday weekend and renting through Vacasa was easy!
Manager response:
Thank you for your review. We are so glad that your families enjoyed your stay and that you had a great holiday weekend.
Kevin D. Apr 2014
The house was large enough for 3 families with kids 4- 10 yrs. Bike trails were super, Sisters just down the road and Hoodoo just up the road. Used the driving range and indoor pool. Basketball courts and all outdoor areas were great. Hot Tub was clean, but not real hot, around 96-98*. I would recommend this place to anyone.
thank you, Homeowners and Vacasa
Lynette J. Mar 2014
it was like being at your favorite gramma 's house - perfectly set up for a large family or group of friends to enjoy quality time, yet still with some spaces to escape to for smaller groups or game time. the hot tub was clean and such a treat to experience that bit of luxury. the house was well-stocked with every supply we needed, and sooo many fresh towels ! cooking was simple and the kitchen had a great supply of pots & pans etc.

thank you so much, homeowners & vacasa, for a perfect getaway!
