THINGS TO KNOW – CITY OF SOUTH LAKE TAHOE SHORT-TERM RENTAL ORDINANCES

Violating these ordinances can result in fines up to $1,500:

a. Maximum occupancy is 2 persons at all times; up to 2 children aged 13 and under do not count toward this limit.

b. Weddings, receptions, and commercial events are prohibited.

c. No outdoor amplified music, speakers, or other noise-generating equipment after 10 PM or before 8 AM.

d. Parking is allowed only on paved surfaces—never on unpaved areas or neighboring property without permission.

e. Commercial vehicles may park temporarily for less than 4 hours only.

f. Camping or sleeping in tents, trailers, campers, or RVs is prohibited on the property.

g. Trash and recycling must be secured in a bear-proof container or animal-resistant cart provided by South Tahoe Refuse.
