The huckleberry milkshake is a favorite among visitors, and the buffalo burgers are unmissable. Right next door is M&S Meats, where you can buy some local meats to cook in the kitchen of your vacation rental.

For a bit more action, the nearby town of Columbia Falls has plenty to keep visitors entertained. Bring the kids on a tour of the Montana Vortex and House of Mystery, or head to Depot Park so they can see what it's like to be a train conductor aboard an old lumber train. For more shopping and dining options, stop in the commercial center of Kalispell along the way.

The friendly mountain town of Whitefish is 41 miles to the north, and well worth a visit. In the winter, check out the Whitefish Winter Carnival for a parade, costumes, food, music, and a penguin plunge! Fishing enthusiasts will be thrilled by the size of the trout found in Flathead Lake. If you're looking for hiking, you'll find abundant opportunities in the wilderness just outside of neighboring Lakeside, a short drive north.

Winter has its own beauty and its own excitement, with snowy peaks at Blacktail Mountain Ski Area offering a chance to practice skiing and snowboarding skills. There are lessons at all different levels for skiers above four years old. Most of the slopes in the area are for intermediate skiers, but there's plenty to interest beginners and experts as well.

It's time to reconnect with nature in this exquisitely wild part of the country. After a stimulating day, you'll be glad to return to the peace and privacy of your Rollins vacation home.
