One of the free local buses, #5, even picks up on the opposite side of Spearhead Drive to take you down to Whistler Village (half a mile west), which is known for its charming, pedestrian-only streets and hundreds of upscale shops, restaurants, and apres-ski spots. Come summer, you'll have your choice of the beautiful Fairmont Chateau Whistler Golf Club (less than half a mile north) and Whistler Golf Club (one mile west), or you can spend your days hiking Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains and tearing down the slopes at Whistler Mountain Bike Park.
