Vacasa Emphasizes Employee Experience with New Global Headquarters Design

North America’s Largest Vacation Rental Property Manager Completes Relocation to Support Continued Growth

October 9, 2018

PORTLAND, Ore., October 9, 2018 -- Vacasa, the largest vacation rental management company in North America, has relocated its headquarters to the Heartline Building in Portland’s Pearl District. Vacasa’s new office, located at 850 NW 13th Avenue, signals a significant shift in the company’s growth trajectory as Vacasa now employs over 400 people in Portland and more than 2,500 employees worldwide, serving the company’s 10,600 vacation homes in 23 states and 16 countries.

Vacasa’s headquarters was designed to bring an elevated experience to employees, customers and partners. Upon entering the lobby, employees and visitors are greeted by a vacation rental-inspired lobby, which echoes the stylish decor of Vacasa homes, as well as one of the company’s baristas, who serve custom espresso drinks, coffee and tea.

On floors two through five, Vacasa’s employees sprawl between individual desks (409), private phone and focus rooms (26), nooks and banquettes (17) and living room-inspired communal spaces (25) that bring in elements of vacation rental comfort such as colorful rugs, coffee and side tables, leather chairs and plush couches.

“When we designed our new office, one of our biggest focuses was employee experience,” said founder and CEO Eric Breon. “We invested in creating an environment for each of the ways our employees like to work and are most effective, including outdoor spaces.”

Collaboration was a major consideration throughout the space because Vacasa’s central teams in Portland and Boise, as well as those in the field, rely on clear communication to provide a seamless experience to homeowners and guests. To support this, Vacasa created large gathering areas and conference rooms to serve employees on a daily basis, and for when field teams come to headquarters for continued education.

Playing up elements of Vacasa’s recent rebrand, which included a new logo and updated color palette, Vacasa’s head of interior design services Kimberly White and Shaylee King of SK Consulting hand-selected the interior elements to complete the space, while Portland’s GBD Architects assisted with spatial planning.

“The building offered an incredible shell for us to work with, so we wanted to leave the structure as untouched as possible, allowing the exposed steel and wood to bring a natural component to the space,” said White. “To complement that look, and give it a vacation rental feel, we created spaces that feel like you could be at your kitchen table, in your living room or even at a neighborhood café, and ensured Vacasa’s new brand colors popped up throughout.”

Furniture for designated employee workspaces was provided by Herman Miller. The company recently released its highly anticipated Cosm chair, which boasts a sophisticated ergonomic design that responds to body movement and posture. Vacasa’s order of the Cosm chair is the largest Herman Miller has received since the chair’s release. Employee desks, which feature the ability to be adjusted electronically, were also provided by Herman Miller.

Vacasa is the sole tenant of Heartline’s office space. The building is anchored by ground-floor retail tenants Quickfish, Kure Juice Bar and Little Bean, providing employees and guests quick access to some of Portland’s most sought-after fare.

Vacasa’s sister office in Boise also relocated in 2018, taking up the second and third floors of the One Capital Center building following renovations. Approximately 145 of Vacasa’s employees sit in the Boise office.
